Be aware that the story there is nothing to do with the UK legislature
Okay. I've got a new Men Are Human article in the works and I need <@&524226120661336076> to take a look if they can. It's very rough around the edges.
Please ignore the dodgy formatting as I copied it out of Wordpress
I have a few possible goals here:
1) To maybe expand the list
2) To try and include more people who aren't feminists, though I could not find any myself annoyingly.
3) To maybe cut down some of the off-topic stuff to shorten it
Some of these are mutually exclusive, but I'm not holding myself to any of them
@Men Are Human I had a little read through it mate. At the start when you talk about experiencing misandry, I would have thought it would be talked about in the context of men experiencing it, not women who feel the hatred themselves, no? Also since it's discussing misandry I would try and go into the fact that misandry is often not recognised as existing, at least in a pharagraph. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had to actually add the word misandry to my phones/computers dictionary to stop it autocorrecting to something else.
Misandry does make me sad
Thinking about it you could possibly add the misogyny/misandry controversy when adding it to hate crimes.
I think it would sound stronger without mentioning the handmaid's tale
I like the first two paragraphs. While the 3rd paragraph does put this into perspective, I'd actually scrap just that connection because we really are talking about the crazies in this one. If that is left out it would end up emphasizing the entertainment-at-crazy/evil aspect...at least until you get into Emily McCombs, which brings us right back to ground-level serious in what feels to me a really well-written way.
So then the intro would read something like:
"Extreme Misandry is the absolute hatred, contempt, and disgust of men and boys. It is a hatred so severe that it simply cannot be compared to anything but racism or homophobia. People who experience it often feel the need to control men, dominate them, belittle them.... or wipe them off the face of the Earth.
Yes, that's right - the total genocide of men is something that has been seriously proposed by academics numerous times. This genocide, or rather gendercide, is an expression of hatred so profound that all but the most militant man-haters baulk at it.
What follows is a short, and insane, history of actual academics and public figures putting forth the idea of a male 'gendercide' as a way of 'cleaning up the filth' of the human race."
Thanks a lot for the feedback, I will do
Hey <@&524226120661336076> I've been sent this study by a feminist and I'm wondering what you all think. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3743119/
Their claim is that it proves that: "Because of pervasive myths like (men being arrested on the spot because they are abused) women are now told not to mention dv in the family court because of this notion that women will lie about it to gain the court's favour when the truth is that dv lies are miniscule and men lie about it just as often as women do"
This was in response to this citation: https://t.co/v9Tkrf7ZYm
Thoughts?
I know for a fact that men have been arrested when they call the police regarding abuse
So it's not a pervasive myth, and I'd like to know what part of any reliable study indicates that
Want to jump in on the twitter battle?
She's literally just saying "this news thing is not a source."
I avoid most social media like the plague
Bwhahahaha
