I thought domestic violence laws meant that charges had to be pressed regardless of the victims wishes

2019-01-25 09:29:24 UTC

This was the UK, so I don't know. Police sometimes don't know the specifics of laws, or forget, but even more often they try to get men to drop charges in order to not have to arest a woman.

(Based on statistics and the stories told by people across reddit)

2019-01-25 09:50:48 UTC

It's probably true that they try to get men to drop charges in general, they apparently even take a minors word on whether or not to press charges

2019-01-25 09:51:39 UTC

I did not know that. They shouldn't

2019-01-25 09:51:55 UTC

It should be automatic for anyone under sixteen or so

2019-01-25 09:55:21 UTC

I agree

All this talk about toxic masculinity from women yet I haven't seen a single feminist complain against these types of women. This attitude that a guy can rape and abuse women if he's attractive always comes from women. Why is that and why does no feminist seem willing to address this toxic behavior? - https://redd.it/ajqsmm

Oh, my, here's definitely the best take on the Gillette commercial I've seen: https://www.reddit.com/r/MensRights/comments/ajp5ff/why_are_so_many_people_bothered_by_the_gillete_ad/

2019-01-26 06:14:55 UTC

That article really takes on everything that is pernicious in the commercial. That said,I think MAH's article focuses better on specifically why there is *so much* backlash to this in particular: https://menarehuman.com/the-worst-a-man-can-get/

Btw, that survey is ending. The author of the survey has said: "In the interest of full disclosure, I want to give a heads up about when data collection will end. The OP was posted to the subreddit at approximately 7:30 PM EST, Tuesday, January 22. As of 7:30 PM this evening (1/25), the response rate has slowed substantially. Therefore, I intend to close the survey tomorrow evening at 7:30 PM EST (date: 1/26)." https://www.reddit.com/r/MensRights/comments/aito5l/18_recruiting_members_of_the_mens_rights/

/u/BlueOrange22 posted a new link in /r/MensRights Homeless man sentenced to 6 years for trying to buy toothpaste with counterfeit $20. Would the privileged class of society be treated that way? - https://redd.it/ajumpl

2019-01-26 12:11:28 UTC

I saw that.. it does seem ridiculous, at the same time though, he has priors which seem to include creating counterfeit notes

2019-01-26 13:06:03 UTC

That's fair - but six years for it?

2019-01-26 14:58:31 UTC

At least he's not homeless anymore /s

How do we tap into the pro-choice movement to support male financial abortion?

2019-01-26 18:17:03 UTC

Women can use birth control, abortion, safe surrender, or any number of things if they do not want to support a child. Men have zero options.

2019-01-26 18:18:15 UTC

Reliable male birth control in pill form will be a step in the right direction honestly

2019-01-26 18:18:58 UTC

Remove the likelihood of accidental children and people will hopefully be more willing to examine the other issues

2019-01-26 18:19:48 UTC

As it is a woman can lie about being on birth control and entrap a man, remove that power from them though, and who knows what happens

2019-01-26 18:22:18 UTC

I've seen plenty of pro-choice feminist types say that consent to sex is consent to a child and everything that goes with it for men, not seeing the disconnect with that logic and women's rights. I doubt aiming the convo at those debating such issues is the way to go, rather at the general populace would be better

2019-01-26 18:23:27 UTC

That's interesting that pro-choice feminists would use that argument

2019-01-26 18:24:00 UTC

It applies to them as well, consent to sex is consent to the possibility of a child so why would they be pro-choice?

2019-01-26 18:24:04 UTC

I don't know, I think hijacking "My body my choice" seems worthwhile

2019-01-26 18:24:30 UTC

Being enslaved for 18 years is definitely violation of bodily sanctity

2019-01-26 18:24:33 UTC

"My wallet my choice" is definitely a line I've seen used and it always gets people up in a hissyfit

2019-01-26 18:25:34 UTC

Are people organizing protests about these issues at all? What is the plan to get the laws changed?

2019-01-26 18:26:56 UTC

Education is the most important thing right now, we have to get people on our side before anything is going to change

2019-01-26 18:27:19 UTC

How is that being accomplished

2019-01-26 18:27:50 UTC

Ironically, things like the Gillette ad are making a lot of men and some women more sympathetic to our causes

2019-01-26 18:28:13 UTC

Turns out telling half the population they're terrible people doesn't really sit well

2019-01-26 18:28:48 UTC

It's funny, my facebook was filled with one woman repeatedly posting about how offended and thin skinned men were... LMFAO

2019-01-26 18:29:00 UTC

The problem is that a lot of people still think men's issues are nonexistant or overexaggerated... So making more people aware of them is still the main thing to do

2019-01-26 18:29:02 UTC

I told her, "You're more obsessed with this ad than any man I've seen."

2019-01-26 18:29:14 UTC

She got triggered

2019-01-26 18:30:04 UTC

InsaneCaterpilla is right, the main thing right now is to inform people of the issues and that they are *actually* issues, it's difficult though

2019-01-26 18:30:24 UTC

You have to be prepared to lose friends and family over not just sitting down and shutting up
