Religion?... idk... that's the excuse to be able to do it anyway
In the US it was Kellogg, a cereal manufacturer, who popularised it as a way to curb men's sexual appetites
huh
That is how circumcision was normalised in the US
Also I’ve noticed that some people have the mentality that people who believe in male rights are somewhat “far-right” nazis.
yeah, seen plenty of that
some Australian politicians tried to support some of the issues but backpedaled very quick when they got feminist backlash
also this idea that MRAs are anti-LQBT+... the only person I know IRL that is also MRA is the gayest man I know, and I hung out with him at a Lesbians house xD
What I am saying (very poorly) is we are a much more diverse bunch then we get credit for 😄
@Abbysol Cleanliness and stopping boys being promiscuous is the real reason. Circumcision dates all the way back. It may be as old as trepanating. I've seen examples from African tribes and anchent Egyptian texts. I don't think we can even say who invented the idea.
@Abbysol There are indeed loads of gay MRAs and plenty who want to be gay, lol. I can understand why. If you are gay the divorce court can't favour anyone female. Personally I find I like that we have very equal relationships.
@Tablecloth That's indeed the case. Anyone got any ideas on how to undermine the idea we are all Nazis? Denying it won't help much, but there has gotta be a way.
Lock anyone who calls us nazis in a camp somewhere.
Truly would be the final solution.
wouldn't that be a very nazi thing to do? xD
guess i had better go get my brown coat
But in all seriousness I think more organisations need to come out as specifically MRA. The few that exist ATM try to ignore the label
In all honesty I wouldn't know what more would help. Our arguments are perfectly fine but people either don't care about them or are willingly blind to them.
no, I think the problem is they only care if it even remotely sounds like something they can get outraged at.
Plenty of men's issues are things to be outraged at
It takes people actually caring and not minimising the issues.
I know Feminists blame MRAs with our whataboutisms but they still reign supreme at that. Or they just blame it on men and continue to ignore it
or blame it on "Patriarchy" and then claim they are not blaming men
Let's face it we know they mean men
pretty sure they know they mean men
This is a big part of the the reason my site is so heavy on the accounts and personal experiences of victims of sexual assault and so on. If we can raise empathy we can get people to care.
Everything on there is about paying this stuff bare, as painful as it can be.
It's very very hard for a Feminist or anyone to look the damage they are doing in the face and realise the human cost - but this is at least one way to do it effectively.
Maybe we need to have a dedicated writing team to complain to people like the BBC. It does change things. I have actually made them alter an article (though not about a gender subject)
I try and not focus on any particular group standing in the way. Because you can always go back and forth blaming Feminism or men.
I think straight up advocating specifically issue to issue long run is the way to go.
When anyone (Feminists) oppose it they are the one that look like arse holes.
Oh definitely. The BBC was really just an example. We should do loads. Maybe have a weekly target.
Oh the Letter writing thing sounds like a good idea
Would be a good way to use the <#515246196374372380> channel.
Okay. So, who should we Concerned Citizen the shit out of first? ;D
MPs might be a start.
MPs are always a good target - except in America.
I know it's kind of a stretch but if people start actually voicing concerns to the people who can make a change more votes might happen
Oo yeah
Damn right.
Is that men's day debate in the commons still going ahead?
