I kinda see discrimination as being based on bias, like misandry

2018-12-05 07:09:40 UTC

That a park on a hill that leads down to the river, it wasn’t too bad for us but I know the water level got up to 12m in Lismore (just upriver from us)

2018-12-05 07:10:46 UTC

@Men Are Human now I really want to know an example of unbiased discrimination xD

2018-12-05 07:13:05 UTC

That's kinda what I mean! It pretty much has to be based on something like that.

2018-12-05 07:15:18 UTC

Maybe it's like discrimination based on a skill or trait like strength. I guess you could call it unbiased but technically leads to a group of people being far less likely to be selected

2018-12-05 07:25:50 UTC

I guess.

2018-12-05 08:36:20 UTC

I'm going to a feminist meeting tomorrow at my uni. The topic is against rape and sexual assault.

2018-12-05 08:37:04 UTC

If you find me on the internet, accused of sexism, please note that I was framed. Thank you.

2018-12-05 08:37:27 UTC

Lol >.<

2018-12-05 08:37:56 UTC

oh wow, what are the circumstances? do you have to go? are you going just to listen? or are you going there to try and do a discussion?

2018-12-05 09:00:10 UTC

I haven't researched the sources for this but it may be worthwhile showing them this

2018-12-05 09:00:40 UTC

Women of that same age range not in college are more at risk of sexual assault than those in college

2018-12-05 09:01:27 UTC

In addition, men at college of that age range are almost twice as likely to be sexual assaulted as those outside college

2018-12-05 09:01:31 UTC

Male college-aged students (18-24) are 78% more likely than non-students of the same age to be a victim of rape or sexual assault.1Female college-aged students (18-24) are 20% less likely than non-students of the same age to be a victim of rape or sexual assault.1

2018-12-05 09:13:07 UTC

So why there's such a focus on prevention on campus...?

2018-12-05 09:13:35 UTC

If anything men are the ones more put at risk for going

2018-12-05 10:11:18 UTC

@Stargazer Sazuri You should mention some of the studies on the Reddit.

2018-12-05 10:11:51 UTC

You can also find the personal stories of men and boys on www.menarehuman.com

Broadly related, we just had a new article by the way: https://menarehuman.com/sexism-vs-boys-part-1/

2018-12-05 12:10:14 UTC

Looks good, I remember reading a lot of those

2018-12-05 12:38:06 UTC

It's nice to see all these stories from the reddit compiled in one place 😃

2018-12-05 13:28:54 UTC

Cool. :) If you see any others we could do, let me know. I check New way too much, but I do miss things. I think it's extremely important to start documenting all of this in one place where it won't get lost on Reddit.

2018-12-05 13:45:38 UTC

Html at the bottom of the page is fixed, thanks for reporting that @InsaneCaterpilla

2018-12-05 16:37:47 UTC

How does shit like this always have 0 controversy?

2018-12-05 22:23:03 UTC

Wow. What a massive sexist bitch.

2018-12-05 22:30:29 UTC

That is literally abuse, and it hits some of the biggest and most toxic parts of the Feminist movement. Especially the way she makes sure her girl not only has every advantage, and sabotages the males - who she literally sees as inferior.

2018-12-05 22:31:06 UTC

The boy was joking l, I think. And stating facts.

2018-12-05 22:32:18 UTC

Thanks by the way. I'm going to add it as an example of misandry on men are human

2018-12-05 22:52:48 UTC

This gave me a good giggle xD

So, there is one aspect of the earnings-related issues that I found more interesting than the others (none of the aspects of the earnings gap that are related to post-second-child mothers -- most of them -- really matter to me). This article: https://equalitycanada.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/Exploring-the-Boys-Crises-in-Education.pdf by the Canadian Council on Learning (government funded, now defunct) says this:

2018-12-06 02:07:44 UTC

"Recent research has focused on returns in higher education and degrees
differing by gender, with the literature suggesting that higher rate s of
return for women, who often do not have access to some of the highly paid jobs
in industries (such as the resource sector) which may not require high levels
of education, may be one factor explaining the gender gap in higher education.
In other words, men may have alternative choices to earn very good wages
outside of the occupations requiring university graduation. Comparison of wages
by gender is an exercise fraught with methodological problems but general
trends seem clear."

2018-12-06 02:08:14 UTC

In other words, part of the reason for post-secondary achievement differences is due to the physical differences in strength between men and women

2018-12-06 02:08:53 UTC

Which, when both sexes are presented with a more equitable need for high wages, will drive an education achievement gap, as it becomes more necessary for women

2018-12-06 02:10:04 UTC

Of course, that paragraph also sounds like it believes the wage gap itself is a real issue....but the actual point it is making is more sound

2018-12-06 02:12:36 UTC

You can perhaps include that as a factor, and its fine to acknowledge it, but it does detract from anti-male bias in higher education and female specific advantages such as scholarships and female only classes, as well as the bias of teachers of marking boys in even basic education, preventing them from achieving what they need to advance
