And yet Dresden was a high value military target, the impact was highly inflated and german civilians were undoubtably complicit in allowing and approving the bombing of civilians in higher numbers. War is horrific and the Germans revelled in that fact when it came to their prosecution of the war on others. That this came home to roost should be of no surprise and simple justice.

the largest estimated number of deaths in dresden was 25,000. while 25,000 lives is not to be scoffed at, its not a huge number when we compare it to other cities
