no no no

2018-12-21 07:53:01 UTC

that's not it

2018-12-21 07:53:05 UTC

its a very, very simple distinction

2018-12-21 07:53:11 UTC

extremely general

2018-12-21 07:53:24 UTC

joint ownership of the means of production. this could mean millions of different things

2018-12-21 07:53:31 UTC

I'm not imposing anything super specific on this term

2018-12-21 07:53:34 UTC

truth is, hitler to some extent tried to hijack the term socialism away from the marxists

2018-12-21 07:53:38 UTC

only insisting on what is the common, accepted understanding

2018-12-21 07:53:47 UTC

because fuck marxists and fuck their socialism

2018-12-21 07:53:52 UTC

not just Marxists, this understanding predates Marxism

2018-12-21 07:53:57 UTC

but again you probably don't read so 🤷

2018-12-21 07:54:26 UTC

Proudhon, Owen, etc. they all shared this understanding

2018-12-21 07:54:28 UTC

holy shit... it was wrong from the start then

2018-12-21 07:54:38 UTC

marxism is just the final version of it

2018-12-21 07:55:01 UTC

2018-12-21 07:55:01 UTC

Marx considered himself a compiler and finaliser of thoughts and ideas that came before him

2018-12-21 07:55:12 UTC

irrelevant

2018-12-21 07:55:48 UTC

no, it is the shitty "natsoc" is the irrelevant doctrine, the one that doesn't belong to the halls of socialist thought but which inserts itself into it because it itself has nothing original to provide

2018-12-21 07:56:02 UTC

it has no content

2018-12-21 07:56:16 UTC

if you mean that natsoc isn't marxist socialism, then you're right

2018-12-21 07:56:17 UTC

u just keep spewing shit without anything to back it up

> the view that socialism means the same as social progress goes back to Proudhon

...uh, no, it doesn't. Proudhon himself operated under the social ownership concept:

```Under the law of association, transmission of wealth does not apply to the instruments of labour, so cannot become a cause of inequality. [...] We are socialists ... under universal association, ownership of the land and of the instruments of labour is social ownership. [...] We want the mines, canals, railways handed over to democratically organised workers' associations. [...] We want these associations to be models for agriculture, industry and trade, the pioneering core of that vast federation of companies and societies, joined together in the common bond of the democratic and social Republic.[36]```
2018-12-21 07:58:44 UTC
like this is basic socialism 101
2018-12-21 07:59:02 UTC
the original meaning is this, and for this reason it is also the academic understanding of the word
2018-12-21 07:59:07 UTC
how do you feel about corporatism
also do you consider mussolini more left than hitler
2018-12-21 07:59:53 UTC
I think that in economics Mussolini and Hitler were quite similar even if not identical. Corporatism is I think a fundamentally centrist doctrine, I think its insufficient but don't spend too much time thinking about it
2018-12-21 08:00:37 UTC
corporatism is for chads
2018-12-21 08:00:43 UTC
^^ tbh
2018-12-21 08:00:55 UTC
Mussolini was, at least slightly, more left than Hitler, Fascism in Italy only got more right wing after Hitler started pressuring Mussolini to place social (mostly racial) reforms in Italy
2018-12-21 08:01:25 UTC
I think they both belong to the centre in economics though
2018-12-21 08:01:28 UTC
@Xinyue Begome Justicialist
2018-12-21 08:01:34 UTC
Mussolini in the centre, and Hitler in centre-right
2018-12-21 08:01:38 UTC
yes
2018-12-21 08:01:58 UTC
> Justicialist
what is this meme ideology
