I have a rant that I’m posting both here and in our 2A room. Belongs in 2A but I want to spread this info more widely. Whether you’re pro guns or not, you should be aware of this situation that is happening ALREADY that is a violation of our current constitutional rights: I had to renew my license this year and they allow you to renew “regular” or get the newer Real ID. The law coming onto the books in October 2020, mandates that you hold a Real ID in order to board any DOMESTIC FLIGHTS. And of course you’d need a passport for international travel. Sounds pretty normal - we have until 10/2020 to get this...except if you get the regular renewal since the DMV started issuing Real IDs, there is nothing REGULAR about the ID they send you... in the upper right corner it says “FEDERAL LIMITS APPLY” and those limits are NOT about travelling (although I have yet to try to travel with it👀). Those limits CURRENTLY apply to your ability to purchase legal firearms of any kind. Some gun shops go by the 2020 date, others go by what the ID states. Bad idea. I obviously won’t spend my money at those shops that do not honor my constitutional rights. Funny thing is, I brought this up with a DMV tech and they were unaware of it yet proceeded to tell me it’s a Federal Compliance issue. But it’s actually the DMV violating my rights because federal compliance isn’t required until 2020.....🤔

If not mistaken Mama I read something where these ids are also tied into facial recognition. In other words to get this more or less mandatory ID you have to agree to your photo being put into a database for facial recognition.

Yes, the federal Real ID has 2 photos on it, 1 is biometric. Not a biggie for me since I already had to do it for my CCW. We are surveilled everywhere. I don't know what the answer is to fixing this problem. If you haven't seen the show "Person of Interest", it's on Netflix, you should watch it. If you're not paranoid yet, you will be after that. Whoever wrote the show did their research. All of the tech names and project names were correct. It's 5 seasons, but a good watch. Recommended.

@UnknownTruth I did watch Perfect of Interest actually when it was in regular tv. Of course while I knew okay there’s more cameras everywhere, I never years ago really thought about how the govt could totally surveillance is 24/7 and more importantly why the hell would they want to. Of course I didn’t know then what I do now. They put everything out there for us to see plain as day and we totally slept right thru it. Well I did. Every movie I watch now I see things I never noticed before.
