@LukeAG When I took a trig course, the first test was just awful. I thought I had failed it, and the professor admitted that he designed the test to encourage people to drop the course in a timely manner before the end of the drop period. When I got the results, I was absolutely stunned. I had earned the highest grade only 84% but on the curve it was a 95%. The snowflakes hated me.
p.s. The instructor said that we did not need to do the advanced questions in the book's homework, but that is exactly where the test questions were taken.
