Excuse my questions, I’ve never paid attention to the landings and don’t know what kind of photographic equipment they would use. ... what type of lens would they use? The surface near the bottom of the picture looks very uniform in curvature.

@lmbd every lander has had different cameras i believe, but the lander designers do love their fish eye lenses due to being able to provide more information to earth in one shot.

These are the numbers from the article, so not sure which distance is accurate at this point. Your distance is what CNN uses if that is any comfort. 😉
