@Reichtangle G43 sights are nice as fuck

2018-11-16 19:18:21 UTC

Only a retard wouldnt be able to use them.

2018-11-16 19:20:26 UTC

No they’re good

2018-11-16 19:21:25 UTC

I like tangent sights, don’t get me wrong

2018-11-16 19:21:40 UTC

But the aperture provides a generally better sight picture

2018-11-16 21:12:30 UTC

This nigga can't use tangent sights lmao

2018-11-16 21:24:53 UTC

I own *one* gun with aperture irons

2018-11-16 21:25:02 UTC

Everything else is tangent

2018-11-16 21:32:19 UTC

DIS NIGGA USES APERATURE SIGHTS LMAO

2018-11-17 07:33:17 UTC

@Magos Squid "The Life Raft" M27 IAR does all that you just described as a force multiplier. The BAR has too much weight and other weapons can fulfill the minor role you described.

2018-11-17 07:34:53 UTC

Also I know some guys who used an M14 in Afganistan and did fine as designated marksman. They carried less ammo because of the box mags and the fact it took less shots to put down jihadi john.

That being said 1-2 guys I know personally and their anecdotal evidence doesn't change the fact the m14 is so heavy and dated.

2018-11-17 07:35:03 UTC

Not sure how any of this related to smithing though.

2018-11-17 14:13:05 UTC

The M14 was fine until you.. removed it from the stock

2018-11-17 14:13:21 UTC

then all its' accurization disappeared

2018-11-17 14:13:50 UTC

(regarding the ones built for use in Afghanistan)

2018-11-17 14:32:23 UTC

Ah

2018-11-17 14:32:29 UTC

Now that makes more sense

2018-11-17 14:33:14 UTC

@Runes Not very cash money of the m14 then

2018-11-17 15:39:50 UTC

Well what do you expect when the rifle is tuned with shims and crush washers. Thats literally every accurate rifle

2018-11-17 15:56:35 UTC

Its a weapon from the 1960s that's been accurized by pounding a couple parts in with a rubber mallet and loctiting it down when the tolerances are measured right

2018-11-17 15:59:26 UTC

Yes. And it's not really suited for field conditions.

2018-11-17 15:59:32 UTC

For what it is they did a fantastic job. Remember that before the EBR, the alternative was pulling a wood stock M14 out of some ancient supply depot and having a SPC put scope rings on it with a cordless drill

2018-11-17 15:59:39 UTC

Sure it's fine in a NRA hi-power match

2018-11-17 16:00:07 UTC

And it didn't do a fantastic job. No idea where you're getting this info.

2018-11-17 16:01:33 UTC

You are supposed to maintain some extra ebrs in armory and mail problematic ones back to the states

2018-11-17 16:02:06 UTC

Its adequate for the task it needed to do, the fantastic part is how quickly and cheaply the problem was solved

2018-11-17 16:02:11 UTC

Cheaply?

2018-11-17 16:02:15 UTC

Are you mad?

2018-11-17 16:04:12 UTC

Where exactly are you getting this info?

2018-11-17 16:04:16 UTC

Compared to what the army would have paid for purchase of a new weapons system

2018-11-17 16:04:57 UTC

Also, the money lost by fielding a temporary platform, only to not be appropriate

2018-11-17 16:05:33 UTC

They did what they could with what was on the shelf on short notice. Just because they had rack grade M14s on the shelf doesn't mean this was in any way a cheap solution

2018-11-17 16:05:57 UTC

Im trying to upload pdf

2018-11-17 16:06:03 UTC

Its fucking with me

2018-11-17 16:06:18 UTC

Why are people so bent on defending the M14/Mk14/EBR

2018-11-17 16:06:21 UTC

I don't get it

2018-11-17 16:06:35 UTC

I think it's aesthetic thing

2018-11-17 16:06:55 UTC

Well, have you ever accurized a battle rifle? Its not the easiest thing.

2018-11-17 16:07:13 UTC

So, you're confirming that this was a bad idea.

2018-11-17 16:07:26 UTC

A battle rifle does not equal a DMR rifle
