Muh battle rifle*
And Muh aesthetic
Don’t get me wrong almost anything since is better
I mean you can even argue the G43 (not the G41 the G41 is perfect the G43 was a late war rushed model) was better than the M14
The M14 is properly heat treated and won’t fuck it’s own gas system
The G43 also only holds ten rounds and has worse sights
It’s better than anything from the Second World War but not by much
>worse sights
that's a very opinionated statement
It’s harder to use tangent sights
I like them but for the average goon it’s easier to use an aperture
well yeah like I said it's very subjective and opinion based
Get your brain out of WW2 ya fuckin nerd
And the M14 is bad and you should feel bad
Yes and I do
@Reichtangle G43 sights are nice as fuck
Only a retard wouldnt be able to use them.
No they’re good
I like tangent sights, don’t get me wrong
But the aperture provides a generally better sight picture
This nigga can't use tangent sights lmao
Everything else is tangent
DIS NIGGA USES APERATURE SIGHTS LMAO
@Magos Squid "The Life Raft" M27 IAR does all that you just described as a force multiplier. The BAR has too much weight and other weapons can fulfill the minor role you described.
Also I know some guys who used an M14 in Afganistan and did fine as designated marksman. They carried less ammo because of the box mags and the fact it took less shots to put down jihadi john.
That being said 1-2 guys I know personally and their anecdotal evidence doesn't change the fact the m14 is so heavy and dated.
Not sure how any of this related to smithing though.
The M14 was fine until you.. removed it from the stock
then all its' accurization disappeared
(regarding the ones built for use in Afghanistan)
Ah
Now that makes more sense
@Runes Not very cash money of the m14 then
Well what do you expect when the rifle is tuned with shims and crush washers. Thats literally every accurate rifle
Its a weapon from the 1960s that's been accurized by pounding a couple parts in with a rubber mallet and loctiting it down when the tolerances are measured right
Yes. And it's not really suited for field conditions.
For what it is they did a fantastic job. Remember that before the EBR, the alternative was pulling a wood stock M14 out of some ancient supply depot and having a SPC put scope rings on it with a cordless drill
Sure it's fine in a NRA hi-power match
And it didn't do a fantastic job. No idea where you're getting this info.
You are supposed to maintain some extra ebrs in armory and mail problematic ones back to the states
Its adequate for the task it needed to do, the fantastic part is how quickly and cheaply the problem was solved
Cheaply?
