Well that's what it was tested and rated multi-hit for, so whatever dude.

2019-03-06 20:04:01 UTC

Unless you're implying they'd test a next-gen armor kit against outdated penetrators and threats

2019-03-06 20:04:36 UTC

AMAPs only use on tanks are on the Leopard 2 Evolution

2019-03-06 20:04:53 UTC

which conveniently places it on top of NERA-based Leopard 2 armor

2019-03-06 20:05:08 UTC

same on the PUMA IFV

2019-03-06 20:05:20 UTC

Oh fuck I forgot the Puma was a thing

2019-03-06 20:05:32 UTC

Puma is kraut space magic

2019-03-06 20:05:56 UTC

Its gun sounds like a blaster

2019-03-06 20:06:21 UTC

*Still no ATGMs because budget cuts*

2019-03-06 20:06:34 UTC

Bruh what even is that fucking turbolaser gun

2019-03-06 20:06:47 UTC

>sounds a blaster

2019-03-06 20:06:51 UTC

Literally has a laser weapon

2019-03-06 20:06:51 UTC

LASER WEAPON

2019-03-06 20:07:40 UTC

It'll be some boring electric system, but it sounds deadly

2019-03-06 20:07:44 UTC

I have no fucking clue what that means

2019-03-06 20:07:55 UTC

Imagine hiding in a foxhole and hearing that above your head

2019-03-06 20:08:04 UTC

Electric recoil dampening or something

2019-03-06 20:08:07 UTC

the only thing that comes to mind is a laser rangefinder, but that's pretty common

2019-03-06 20:08:12 UTC

Errrr, it might be a HEL

2019-03-06 20:08:15 UTC

At a guess, that's a motor

2019-03-06 20:08:16 UTC

Or a FEL

2019-03-06 20:08:26 UTC

The blaster sound

2019-03-06 20:08:48 UTC

could be, but is the energy consumption low enough for an IFV?

2019-03-06 20:09:12 UTC

There's a few small laser weapons that can fit in a 10ft trailer

2019-03-06 20:09:27 UTC

Rated to blap mortars and ATGMs at like 3km within a second

2019-03-06 20:09:32 UTC

last I checked laser weapons were too power hungry for non-static applications outside of ships and large planes

2019-03-06 20:09:34 UTC

That was damn near 10 years ago

2019-03-06 20:09:48 UTC

Also, single-use chemical laser cells

2019-03-06 20:10:04 UTC

Huge bursts of power and then you chuck it

2019-03-06 20:10:09 UTC

still, why mount it on an IFV of all things

2019-03-06 20:10:18 UTC

Active protection?

2019-03-06 20:10:29 UTC

nah

2019-03-06 20:10:35 UTC

I mean a HEL with a fast-track turret could blap shells out of the sky real fast

2019-03-06 20:11:02 UTC

shrapnel and EFP-based interceptors are more reliable and multi-use

2019-03-06 20:11:34 UTC

a laser would choke the thing's engine just to charge

2019-03-06 20:11:40 UTC

at least a current-tech one

2019-03-06 20:11:43 UTC

Possibly, but possibly not

2019-03-06 20:11:50 UTC

in the future maybe

2019-03-06 20:12:00 UTC

I mean it's not that hard to make a laser rifle of sorts with modern tech

2019-03-06 20:12:29 UTC

Not gonna do much but give you a nasty burn, but you can rig it up with some frequency doubling and mail-ordered lasing medium
