U.S Marines were forced to surrender because they were caught trying to secure tents in hurricane strength winds.

Perimeter guards pulled off to secure gear that was blowing away. Icelandic guys were doing recon as OPFOR, signaled to their main forces to take advantage. They encircled the Marines as OPFOR and caught them trying to stake down their tents and gear covers on their vehicles.

Basically, where we train in Iceland, it's hurricane strength winds. It's fucking ridiculous.

Then there was a rogue wave, or rather a large "break," that hit our two docked ships twice in a row.

OPSEC shut it all down, families were informed shit was fine but, a lot of Marines got hurt. Eleven were sent to critical care. The Icelandic troops were pressured to be quiet but, it's their home country they don't have OPSEC and don't give a *fuck.* Why? Because a boot ass officer sent those Marines into the ship to secure RHIBS and gear that was flying around in the bottom.

My best friend's father is a Swedish combat vet who deployed from 1970-1990. Infantry Captain. Did Royal guard duty. Worked for BOFORs as a private contractor too, so even in peace time he was reinstated and sadly had to get some in Iran while working in the ME on a water plant.
