Our veterans and active duty act like fucking tools on joint operations
I was blown away here in Sweden they don't thank me for my service
Thank *fuck*
@Ringleader064 just invade venezula :^)
Do you know how weird that is
Being on the other end is even weirder
@urzu117 I see what you did there.
I talked to some NATO operatives who were high up in the Cold War, and they say the same shit our current NATO guys say
Which is, we dick about on joint ops, don't take them seriously, and have a serious discipline issue amongst all 5 branches until you hit our higher end professionals or our specialists in critical MOSes.
Then they say the training from those few are invaluable/some of the best in the world.
IE: Medical training stateside we give our allies.
I mean that makes sense
Every year we got dickbags who laugh at the Swedish cold weather instructors and sure enough, 5-10 nearly die of Hypo
It does, it's actually common sense when written out this way
The US has *never* had a disciplined ground force. Ever.
Just most Americans would never have the rose tinted shit fall off their eyes
I mean, in the grand scheme of things
We're the equivalent of a white Congo/third world revolution
It's no different than the Ivory Coast rebelling against France, except we're the same shit as those we rebelled against
So it was all groovy. Plus it removed debt from England so it worked out
Well I mean in every war we've fought it has been a universal fact that US forces will do whateverthe fuck they feel like at the time, with no discernable tactics or strategy 99% of the time.
Ah if only we were still that way today. Perhaps we could own weed and automatics
The revolutionary part.
Not the "not reading our own regulations/manuals/sticking to our own doctrine," part.
Like one engagement to the next against US forces and you can see totally different tactics and responses
Let alone between different branches
We had two ops in 2018 that were a massive shit show
One in Iceland, the other, Trident Juncture
How bad?
Iceland field op, simulation between small Icelandic force and U.S MEU.
U.S Marines were forced to surrender because they were caught trying to secure tents in hurricane strength winds.
wut
Perimeter guards pulled off to secure gear that was blowing away. Icelandic guys were doing recon as OPFOR, signaled to their main forces to take advantage. They encircled the Marines as OPFOR and caught them trying to stake down their tents and gear covers on their vehicles.
Basically, where we train in Iceland, it's hurricane strength winds. It's fucking ridiculous.
Then there was a rogue wave, or rather a large "break," that hit our two docked ships twice in a row.
OPSEC shut it all down, families were informed shit was fine but, a lot of Marines got hurt. Eleven were sent to critical care. The Icelandic troops were pressured to be quiet but, it's their home country they don't have OPSEC and don't give a *fuck.* Why? Because a boot ass officer sent those Marines into the ship to secure RHIBS and gear that was flying around in the bottom.
Jesus fucking christ
Edited with more data.
"yes I will send men in to a blender of tumbling gear while being buffeted by rough seas"
Best part? The Marines were too critical to be moved, so they left all 11 in a foreign country, the MEU continued on to Norway.
