@Seatoast, @Dinosorcerer, More compact.
It is quite cool
Complete build:
@Seatoast, @Dinosorcerer, you guys familiar with how 3D printing high-temp polmers requires a huge, heavy water cooled hotend, and how this reeks havok on the speed of your printer?
Nah, I love the legal freedom of them but I wouldnt typically use them
(You have to move something heavy.)
I shoot alot and they really dont fit the bill for me
@Seatoast, a crazy old man who frequents fosscad invented an absurdly compact water cooled hotend that is tinier and lighter than the normal ones.
They are paving the way for us
If it ever cam to it we will thank them later
He teamed up with an engineer and now fosscaders can buy actual PEEK capable printers for cheap.
Nice
I should get one for the habbening
(PEEK is the hardest plastic to extrude and melt.)
I know polymer science is gangster and all but I just have a hard time trusting poly rifles
Even though I know they're mostly okay
Its psycological for me I guess
If you want a printer, being in fosscad gives you a discount on one of the best printers you can get.
@Seatoast, this guy bought one and the first job he did with it paid for the printer twice over.
Cant wait to see where printing takes us in 10 years time
@Seatoast Hear of that new gun design where the barrel and slide recoil in opposite directions?
In opposite directions? No I havent
I can't find the fucking webpage.
FOUND IT
MY GOOGLE FU IS UNSTOPPABLE
Pretty neat
Also: FUCKING ALUMINIUM SLIDE
WUT
That is how amazing the mechanism is, you can make the fucking slide in Al.
Now THIS is a REAL MAN'S crowdfunding campaign.
Back it to get a gun, that's 'merican.
In my mind the most exciting thing about 3d printed guns is their potential to make any gun control legislation a moot point.
In Cali, they are going after the ammo.
Those are probably easier to make than a gun. Building your own foundry is pretty easy, and bullets and associated materials aren't big.
Cartridge extrusion, however, is not easy.
