This problem gets brought up in Plato.
I don't think that it gets resolved in his dialogues, so I very much doubt that it will be solved by any of us in this server lmao
i don't know if its a problem but a puzzle of words definitely
Ok... how is a puzzle of words not a problem?
@Iheanacho Will the human species go extinct?
well yeah , its a situation that is unwelcome, a puzzle is more of an equation . but either way, i don't see it as an issue here on this discord.
Hmm.... So a problem is unwelcomed while a puzzle could be welcomed?
i never said the puzzle was welcomed, its just not relative to me
gotcha
too much critical thinking for today guys, Cya Later.
@Iheanacho Suggested that with my mindset that the human species would be extinct. My questions to this are three fold: 1) why does it matter if the human species goes extinct? 2) if the human species will go extinct anyway (as suggested by any biological understanding of life on the planet), what difference does it make between different types of nihilism if the outcome will be the same regardless? and 3) if not being born is better than being born, wouldn't extinction be preferable to species reproduction?
1). it does not have to matter to you, just focus on bettering your life.
2). Too obvious. One type delays the inevitable and expands their personal future, another stagnates and embraces extinction, and the final voluntarily accelerates it.
3). Overcome such irony. We need people to prosper, but it would help to have smart and caring people. A society full of toxics will make it easier for one to neglect it and leave it for death.
But if death and extinction comes for the loving and the hateful alike, what difference does it make in prolonging it?
So tip the odds in favor and outnumber and outmatch the parasites festering our society, otherwise focus on oneself and make good use of your life while it lasts instead of squandering it.
What do you mean by "parasites festering our society"?
I cannot possibly see how any of it matters to the point that the human species ought to keep on surviving even thought extinction is inevitable...
Scenario 1: The human species gets over all of its problems and lives peacefully for the next 400,000 years but goes extinct due to nature or entropy.
Scenario 2: A nuclear holocaust occurs people could not have ever possibly have gotten over their problems and everyone dies in the wake of nuclear fire and humanity goes extinct.
Whats up? brothers
Why should perhaps 400,000 years of people living relatively peacefully be worth more than only 10 more years until a nuclear exchange, yet the human species goes extinct regardless?
@the adventures male Just a neutral nihilist stuck in limbo from the Void. Happens too often...
That doesn't answer my questions lol
No need for hydrogen bombs soon yellowstone will erupt with a greater force
I never even said that I was a nihilist per se, but I don't see how your approach to trying to say that your approach is any better than nihilism is successful...
I get your point Seven, there is an endless stream of questionability and triviality of life. I just bite the bullet, take a chance and hope for the best.
That is what is different between us then. I'm not a man of faith commitments.
Biting bullets is simply too much for me, especially when biting bullets simply leaves nothing but teeth of steel...
I'am sick of this gynocentric socity
Nihilism is my approach, using it to better and expand my life and perspective. Focusing on my own life instead of living for others by their demands.
Every day the shove border line pornogrphy in your face in places like MTV,The internet and even outside
Hence the goal of progression.
@Iheanacho That's more like egoism, than nihilism lmao
Read Max Stirner
You'd like him lol
Nihilism helps me stand on my own grounds. It helped me see a truth in human nature and life. It helps me question morality and think for myself instead of following a preset of rules handed to me by blue-pilled cucks on a golden platter.
Egotism does not cover morality. A morally righteous person can be egotistical.
I said EGOism
Not egoTISM
An egoist would see morality in the same fashion that you do.
An egoist would see morality as a way to control the individual at his own expense.
