I am more of a trial-and-error person. self-educate, and improvise.

2018-09-03 20:02:17 UTC

That approach may seem intuitive, yet is riddled with paradox.

2018-09-03 20:02:29 UTC

i listened to jordan peterson , but because he is not of my generation, i cannot see what he sees, i love it when he makes people look stupid on youtube tho.

2018-09-03 20:02:58 UTC

You guys should check out his talk with Philosopher David Benatar.

2018-09-03 20:03:20 UTC

Benatar is an anti-natalist, and Peterson gets destroyed imo

2018-09-03 20:03:29 UTC

@Seven Of Swords , your approach may be paradoxical , but your suffering is how you live. you can either improve it, or stick with whatchu got.

2018-09-03 20:03:51 UTC

Have you heard of Samsara?

2018-09-03 20:04:30 UTC

@Seven Of Swords Why not build from nothing? If everyone thought the same way, humanity would be extinct.

If I thought the way you did, I probably would have committed suicide a long time ago. That is why nihilism needs to be controlled to avoid drifting apart into the Void.

2018-09-03 20:05:42 UTC

that could be a spicy meme right there

2018-09-03 20:06:26 UTC

I'm not convinced that suicide is worth more than living. And on the flip side, I'm not convinced that living is worth more than committing suicide.

2018-09-03 20:06:30 UTC

If any of you guys in chat rn need to be meme approved let me know

2018-09-03 20:06:46 UTC

@Iheanacho How the hell can you build from nothing?

2018-09-03 20:06:50 UTC

make a meme of that

2018-09-03 20:07:05 UTC

Ditto.

2018-09-03 20:07:48 UTC

@Seven Of Swords he's stating your nothing, so you can only go up from where you are now.

2018-09-03 20:07:59 UTC

Y'all need to play some construction games, it really helps influence the nihilism premise. From nothing to something.

2018-09-03 20:08:17 UTC

@ZODD How does one differentiate between nothing and something?

2018-09-03 20:08:38 UTC

Fallout Shelter helps too. This War is Mine. Civilizations.

2018-09-03 20:08:40 UTC

well, they can be the same thing

2018-09-03 20:08:46 UTC

hmm...

2018-09-03 20:09:02 UTC

something could be nothing, and nothing is something

2018-09-03 20:09:18 UTC

Then how is anything else different from me if nothing cannot be distinguished from something?

2018-09-03 20:09:21 UTC

stop fucking with me LOL

2018-09-03 20:09:35 UTC

This problem gets brought up in Plato.

2018-09-03 20:10:37 UTC

I don't think that it gets resolved in his dialogues, so I very much doubt that it will be solved by any of us in this server lmao

2018-09-03 20:10:49 UTC

i don't know if its a problem but a puzzle of words definitely

2018-09-03 20:11:34 UTC

Ok... how is a puzzle of words not a problem?

2018-09-03 20:13:34 UTC

@Iheanacho Will the human species go extinct?

2018-09-03 20:14:26 UTC

well yeah , its a situation that is unwelcome, a puzzle is more of an equation . but either way, i don't see it as an issue here on this discord.

2018-09-03 20:15:13 UTC

Hmm.... So a problem is unwelcomed while a puzzle could be welcomed?

2018-09-03 20:16:31 UTC

i never said the puzzle was welcomed, its just not relative to me

2018-09-03 20:16:58 UTC

gotcha

2018-09-03 20:18:21 UTC

too much critical thinking for today guys, Cya Later.

2018-09-03 20:21:20 UTC

@Iheanacho Suggested that with my mindset that the human species would be extinct. My questions to this are three fold: 1) why does it matter if the human species goes extinct? 2) if the human species will go extinct anyway (as suggested by any biological understanding of life on the planet), what difference does it make between different types of nihilism if the outcome will be the same regardless? and 3) if not being born is better than being born, wouldn't extinction be preferable to species reproduction?

2018-09-03 20:25:01 UTC

1). it does not have to matter to you, just focus on bettering your life.

2). Too obvious. One type delays the inevitable and expands their personal future, another stagnates and embraces extinction, and the final voluntarily accelerates it.

2018-09-03 20:26:18 UTC

3). Overcome such irony. We need people to prosper, but it would help to have smart and caring people. A society full of toxics will make it easier for one to neglect it and leave it for death.

2018-09-03 20:27:13 UTC

But if death and extinction comes for the loving and the hateful alike, what difference does it make in prolonging it?

2018-09-03 20:27:15 UTC

So tip the odds in favor and outnumber and outmatch the parasites festering our society, otherwise focus on oneself and make good use of your life while it lasts instead of squandering it.

2018-09-03 20:27:48 UTC

What do you mean by "parasites festering our society"?

2018-09-03 20:28:42 UTC

I cannot possibly see how any of it matters to the point that the human species ought to keep on surviving even thought extinction is inevitable...

2018-09-03 20:29:49 UTC

Scenario 1: The human species gets over all of its problems and lives peacefully for the next 400,000 years but goes extinct due to nature or entropy.
