Everyone gets depressed, all you need to do is find contentment in life. Happiness is fleeting it's unattainable on a long term basis. Find interest in the day to day life. Life is suffering it's not meant to be all roses. Just find something you can enjoy and that's interesting. It could be as simple as reading books or taking walks
@Denno not having a stable home life is really bad. i know i went through that. i would suggest you spend as much time around supportive freinds and family as possible. and dont beat yourself up. remember. its a long. hard process. your gonna slip. you will fall back down. thats normal. it sucks.

Weightlifting has been the best thing in the world for my mental health
especially my brother. He assaulted me and my dad just sat there
then my parents played victim and got the police restraining orders against me
@Denno my main advice would be. take care of yourself, focus on that. dont beat yourself up. failure is regular and comes often. and cut out toxic influence. it may hurt now. but you cant heal until your free to do so.

i would suggest trying cbt if you havent already. thats cognitive behavioral therapy. it can give you skills to help cope with and move past depression as well as many other problems. medication.. is really a hit and miss thing in my experience. and comes with too many side effects.
More bad news from me, testosterone and high levels of it are important for males depression as well, you need it.
