what do you mean? self-driving cars do drive in cities and have a lot of mileage there
alphabet runs their cars all over
uhm, san fran?
Its not though
one of the cali big cities
can you elaborate on that guderian?
@Tiberius even then, its not about minimum wage jobs, its about low skill jobs,
there are two convos happening at once
that is where confusion is coming from
you're just a hamster calman
Minimum wage jobs are low skill jobs
Typically speaking unless its an internship
low skill work that can be automated away can pay above a minimum wage
@TeeTotaler I might be, lol
what do you think about the people who want to develop AI and then make the human race go extinct and let AI take over
Most people who work minimum wage are between 16-19
Constituting nearly half of all minimum wage workers
The reason I brought up minimum wage was your example of mcdonalds as a company that stands to lose more thsn it would gain from automation
Considering the overwhelming majority of McDonalds store workers make minimum wage and most of them are young or retired and thus that is not their sole livelyhood
@TeeTotaler I think it is sick tbh
I am in fact correct
Unless you think you have a better citation than the bureau of labor statistics
Im too tired to read the statistical tables, I will give u the argument, we should have UBI and I will succ andrew yang
@TeeTotaler AI could be used to like, upgrade humanity
Do come back when you actually have a well supported argument
It is all quite ludicrous. Computers are digital. The real world is analog. Yang is prophesizing economic catastrophe while we have the lowest unemployment in decades. TBQH I agree with claman in this. The successful technologies have been extensions of humans.
@Tiberius I'll sleep on it, and come back to it later, I still feel like I have a point about automation, but I don't have like, the citations
what would justify this "upgrade"? surely if it is an upgrade what are we upgrading? For this question to be answered we need a definitive stance on what the human species goal in the universe is
The real world is converting to digital
Thats inevitable, and closer than many would think
Ths only thing I even agree with Yang on is that we should in fact be prepared
We also have a continually falling labor force participation rate
Despite there being 7 million unfilled jobs
@TeeTotaler So like, there are two ways of looking at AI, and like, its either the Matrix style AI that basically doesn't need humans around or a AI that is more sophisticated and works amongst humans
because why work when the incentive is so low?
The real world cannot convert to digital because it is made of physical matter. I can run a digital simulation in a video game or autocad. In either the universe represented is precise down to the last pixel. The real world, outside of all that is not, cannot be because it is fractally complex and analog.
Obviously the world is physical
