The window of acceptable debate on the right has shifted so much so that you have individuals on the right that think equality of opportunity is valid and good as an idea. Liberalism itself is egalitarian in nature

The right wing has always positioned itself as anti egalitarian

There are races they are not equal, there are genders they are not equal, some people are born smart, others not, some cultures are better than others

a simple way of looking at it would be that it went from equality under the law -> equality in regards to political power -> economic equality -> social/cultural equality
