TEL wants WALL-E IRL

2020-01-26 00:50:13 UTC

I want to reach Utopia

2020-01-26 00:50:28 UTC

It's possible and it is what we should be aiming for

2020-01-26 00:50:31 UTC

I was more thinking of something involving bringing back old style gladiator games because there's so many bored people.

2020-01-26 00:50:48 UTC

@The Electric Lizard Utopia is just dystopia.

2020-01-26 00:50:50 UTC

when i was first researching a UBI, i found this study insightful. https://rooseveltinstitute.org/modeling-macroeconomic-effects-ubi/

2020-01-26 00:50:56 UTC
2020-01-26 00:51:08 UTC

But those are contradictory terms

2020-01-26 00:51:25 UTC

Hold up for a second.

2020-01-26 00:51:26 UTC

Utopia isn't completely possible but we can take efforts to get closer to it

2020-01-26 00:51:35 UTC

Would you mind if I got a video for reference?

2020-01-26 00:51:40 UTC

Ensuring very few people have to work would be a stop towars it

2020-01-26 00:51:49 UTC

@psyxypher Not reallu

2020-01-26 00:52:03 UTC

UBI wouldn’t solve the Main issue of Americans being Financially Illiterate

2020-01-26 00:52:10 UTC
2020-01-26 00:52:25 UTC

Adeptus, you've hit it on the nose.

2020-01-26 00:52:49 UTC

We don't need them to be

2020-01-26 00:53:03 UTC

If you took all the money, and then you give every Person $100,000, those who were once Wealthy will likely become wealthy again, and the Poors will lose it all immediately

2020-01-26 00:53:09 UTC

No one understands basic economics. I'm willing to bet most of the people in my town have never heard the term "Price Ceiling" before.

2020-01-26 00:55:27 UTC

@psyxypher The problem with this video is that it describes a very Authoritarian society which in my view could never really be a Utopia

2020-01-26 00:56:00 UTC

The Society being described for example forces people to work for 2 years

2020-01-26 00:56:08 UTC

That doesn't really seem like a Utopia

2020-01-26 00:56:49 UTC

That's *always* how it starts.

2020-01-26 00:56:49 UTC

I understand the point that the idea of a Utopia for some is a Dystopia for others

2020-01-26 00:57:03 UTC

But that isn't always the case

2020-01-26 00:57:57 UTC

I think the best way for a Utopia to function would be a Government with Socially Democratic Bernie Sanders Style Economic Policy while also maintaining a Libertarian approach to Social Policy and intervening with the lives of citizens

2020-01-26 00:58:13 UTC

if you unironically think humanity will ever reach a point of Utopia....

2020-01-26 00:58:18 UTC

i dont know what i can do for you mate.

2020-01-26 00:58:23 UTC

I do.

2020-01-26 00:58:28 UTC

Explain why he's wrong.

2020-01-26 00:58:32 UTC

I think we could reach it in a few lifetimes

2020-01-26 00:58:49 UTC

well you're a more patient man then I am. Thats for certain @psyxypher

2020-01-26 00:58:49 UTC

Of course it depends on your definition

2020-01-26 00:59:13 UTC

The problem is that your method requires the fatal flaw that destroys every Socialist state.
Government Power.

2020-01-26 00:59:29 UTC

The Government would be restricted though

2020-01-26 00:59:50 UTC

That's why it should have one Socially Democratic Element and one Libertarian Element

2020-01-26 00:59:58 UTC

A Utopia is just simply not possible. even if we achieved a point where scarcity of resources is eliminated

2020-01-26 01:00:22 UTC

I think you're looking at a Libertarian state, not a socialist one.
Styxhexenhammer is a libertarian who thinks we should have some social safety net.

2020-01-26 01:00:45 UTC

Some Socialist Policies would be needed
