But no, I'm not into physically harming ppl
weak
Again, she might ultimately have responded the same way to me, I don't know. But would you say it's *more likely* she'd have responded better to me?
Tho I suspect I may have lost my professional cool the moment she called me a white supremacist. I had to immediately disengage so I don't get sucked into saying shit publicly that is not venue appropriate
Perhaps? Tho if I were a betting man, I'd wager against you in having any different reaction from her or concluding engagement
Well, if we're measuring the odds, I at least have actual examples I can point to of progressives whom I've engaged with in discussions like this and they treated me well despite disagreement. TYT and Feminist Frequency being the most well-known examples I can think of. I also have talked briefly with the president of BLM NY, Hawk Newsome as another data point.
And the only difference, really, is the empathy I brought with me to the conversation.
And the end result? Did they double down or actually change their mind and 180'd?
I didn't have the opportunity to talk with them long enough to make radical progress, but the conversations ended pleasantly and I shifted them a few degrees closer to me than someone who thinks they're only in it for power would have. So that's something. Proof of concept at least. And if more people treated them like that, I'd be willing to bet they wouldn't just ghost us. Because why would they?
I gave up trying to understand leftists. My imaginations simply aren't creative enough to go down their twisted clown world logic
Well, as a Cartesian Skeptic, I've gone down the postmodern road before. I might not understand everything they think; but I have a reasonable idea, based on that experience. Enough to generally note some areas where they're right and some where they're wrong, and to know the reasons *why* in each case.
As an ex-Moaist, ex-feminist, ex-SJW, I understand at least some of their motivations for why they feel the way they do. I just have the wherewithal to know when it goes too far to become toxic and violent.
huh... well then, you've gone down the rabbit hole far deeper than I have so yea. I'd wager then you'd have far better insights into their world than I do
Btw, the fact that I'm an EX of all those things is partly why I know it's possible to reach them - at least in theory - because I'm an example of that reform. Granted, I wasn't so far left as to be an unhinged authoritarian, so maybe there's a line beyond which it's impossible to step back form; but by and large, that line is further out than most people think. So like someone like AOC, as radical as she seems, is not yet crossed that line, in my opinion. People like her can still be saved, it's just a matter of do you have the will and the skill to be able to do it.
I think you're just being intentional difficult then @TheGhostAgent
Well then I stand corrected.
And what do you mean I'm being intentionally difficult? 0.o
I just gave him a compliment...
Well what isn't there to understand? It's pretty simple when you ask people their core beliefs
Well when their core beliefs is orange/white/*insert arbitrary standards here* = bad... I find it difficult to 'win' or 'persuade' such core principles
And the majority of leftists aren't black supremacists
Seems like you just ran into a bad draw
You can't combat prejudice with more prejudice
This seems relevant, actually:

Crafty, why have you made me look at this with my eyeholes?
You cant really change most radicals, they have often built their entire identity around their ideologies, all their friends, their family, and their spouses share that ideology. To admit "I went too far, I fucked up, I was wrong" would destroy their sense of self and obliterate their lives as they know it.
lol?
The statement is in general the overall arching narrative of the leftist beliefs. The whole NPC/orangemanbad meme/trope.
Again, if their overriding principles were strictly about genuine equality of opportunity and treatment, not outcome or 'redistribution', they'd actually be open to the data and evidence pointing to the contrary. That or at least addressing the evidence itself, not attack the individual via ad homs.
As for combating prejudice w/more prejudice, where did you get that from me? I'd much prefer persuading ppl through dialogue, but if you haven't noticed as of late. The left isn't exactly open to dialogue other than through bike locks, firebombing, or barrel of a gun. I'm all for dialogue so long as they can be reasonable, but when facing the likes of Mao, Pol Pot, Stalin, etc.
Yea, prejudice doesn't cut it. Extreme prejudice is necessary to cull such ideologues by exposing them for what they truly are to the public. Power hungry psycho/sociopaths.
Oh and before I get misinterpreted, what I meant by cull is not by actually "murderous culling" or "censoring", but naming them for what they are. Until we react to ppl stylizing themselves as proud socialists/communists in the same way someone would stylize themselves as proud KKK/Nazis, we're not going to go anywhere.

I mean, the Iran War was never going to happen anyway, but at least they're doing *something* to limit executive power
