From what I understand, there are some problems with the Cypriot legal system that this story has exposed
But the best thing in the UK for both rape survivors and other people who interact with the legal system - victim, or perpetrator, is to ensure that legal aid and the justice system are properly funded such that nobody who is not found guilty of a crime is put out of pocket by the experience, to ensure that justice isn't dependent on your ability to pay, and that all reported crime is appropriately dealt with
