The salary threshold was retarded
Clearly wasn't going to be viable in the long term - all they'd end up doing is making a giant lists of exceptions to it
they are really cashing in on these headlines <:smugon:512048583806025739>
take what you can get i guess
Oh nooo the Lords have voted for something that’ll be repealed in an instant. I’m sure the headlines will be just as big saying “never mind, the Lords didn’t actually do anything”.
I do love the way the Lords are just begging Johnson to reform them at the height of his power when he can make a second chamber that actually has powers and will favour the Conservatives.
> The prime minister has vowed to overturn all Lords amendments as the Withdrawal Agreement Bill completes its passage through parliament on Wednesday.

I mean the article should start and end there.
The Lords don't seem to yet have the message that this isn't the Parliament of three years past.
Perhaps someone would explain to me why theyre trying to put these safeguards in an EU withdrawal bill
I'm not British so enlighten me. At this point, can Boris just do whatever he wants and ignore the house of lords?
Yes but no, Kaiser
they know it will get overturned... theyre just trying to cause delays
To be fair, the ammendment that guarantees EU citizens a document proving their status is sensible
Especially given the problems the last time with Windrush
sounds reasonable
I doubt a document will be all that helpful... theyll just say its a fake if they really wanted to deport someone
and Im sure also... a lot of fakes will appear too... NGOs will start handy them out like sweets
@Kaiser (ICFD) House of lords is basically limp dicked. It has no power to keep things in and the commons can eventually ignore it entirely if it gets annoyed with it.
they'll probably start leafleting them across libya 😛
The amendments are designed to sound reasonable until you realise they back the government into a corner and don't allow it to actually make up a policy in reaction to the needs of the situation.
Boris might want a document in the end but why the fuck should the form or creation of such a document be dictated by a bunch of losers who can't accept the result.
they will just keep adding "amendments" until it comes to february and ... "oh no's, we're still dealing with the bill, ...guess you gotta ask for an extension huh?"
indeed, and we all know that if they could control that, they'd try to find some way to undermine it
@Kaiser (ICFD) excatly. It's always the way they do these things.
@wacka I'm 90% sure that's exactly what they are doing
"lords cause no deal brexit" ... will be the headline that will never appear in any headlines... but will be the truth everyone knows
Tbh I'm all for the House of Lords forcing a no deal Brexit on us.
I would kek for many days
It's what I've been asking for and the House of Lords delivers to be via cutting their nose to spite their face.
imagine being so stubborn and butthurt you force your enemies to take the option you least want because you're acting like a child
Ye lol
