The less you have in common, the bigger the potential for a recipe of disaster

2020-01-30 22:14:53 UTC

Mates are also selected on genetic similarity

2020-01-30 22:14:57 UTC

Generally

2020-01-30 22:15:05 UTC

because i want the state to select citizens who will be a good fit in my society, and looking at one's ancestry is an extremely effective way of determining that

2020-01-30 22:15:08 UTC

Do you mean why shouldn't we discriminate based on immutable characteristics? @Death in June

2020-01-30 22:15:21 UTC

No it really isn't

2020-01-30 22:15:29 UTC

It really is

2020-01-30 22:15:41 UTC

okay

2020-01-30 22:15:45 UTC

We shouldn't stop someone from immigrating into the nation based on factors beyond their control

2020-01-30 22:15:46 UTC

does that part actually matter to you though

2020-01-30 22:15:56 UTC

like if you accepted it was an effective way of determining that

2020-01-30 22:16:00 UTC

would you change your stance

2020-01-30 22:16:05 UTC

or is this not relevant to the point

2020-01-30 22:16:18 UTC

No i wouldn't

2020-01-30 22:17:04 UTC

I simply don't believe it is fair for us to stop someone from immigrating based on their ancestry which they had no control over

2020-01-30 22:17:26 UTC

do you think it would be okay to, in the immigration process, discriminate against people who have antisocial personality disorder?

2020-01-30 22:17:33 UTC

Yes

2020-01-30 22:18:00 UTC

To an extent though

2020-01-30 22:18:09 UTC

Should we discriminate by intelligence?

2020-01-30 22:18:28 UTC

is antisocial personality disorder not an immutable trait

2020-01-30 22:18:43 UTC

Is gender not an immutable trait

2020-01-30 22:18:43 UTC

It's an immutable trait that has more of an effect

2020-01-30 22:19:00 UTC

oh okay

2020-01-30 22:19:29 UTC

so how effective a trait is in determining how well someone integrates into our society does matter

2020-01-30 22:19:35 UTC

even if it is immutable

2020-01-30 22:20:05 UTC

We shouldn't discriminate based on immutable traits unless that immutable trait has a significant effect on the person

2020-01-30 22:20:11 UTC

I don't believe race does

2020-01-30 22:20:38 UTC

this seems different from what you've said earlier

2020-01-30 22:20:46 UTC

Inb4 race is just skin colour

2020-01-30 22:20:54 UTC

It pretty much is

2020-01-30 22:20:57 UTC

Lol

2020-01-30 22:21:01 UTC

Okay

2020-01-30 22:21:10 UTC

Race doesn't have any serious effect on anyone's life

2020-01-30 22:21:14 UTC

You're arguing with a believer

2020-01-30 22:22:18 UTC

I simply don't believe that we should discriminate based on a characteristic that has next to no effect on someone and that they had no control over

2020-01-30 22:22:52 UTC

If a private citizen wanted to discriminate based on those grounds then it would be wrong but it should be allowed

2020-01-30 22:23:00 UTC

But the State doing that would be a major problem and shouldn't be allowed

2020-01-30 22:24:40 UTC

The State has an obligation to help the citizens of the nation and discriminating against certain citizens would break this obligation

2020-01-30 22:24:43 UTC

There should definitely be discrimination on immigration based on ethnicity.
Whether it is not somebody's fault they were born a certain way or not does not matter. What matters is the nations safety and wellbeing. The more difference there is between people and other ethnicities, the less integrated and united people are. Everybody has imbued within them a certain familiarity with people and the less familiar they are with someone, the less they have in common

2020-01-30 22:24:45 UTC

Simple as

2020-01-30 22:25:04 UTC

Simple as
