Which is what Microsoft do
No such evidence exists for Microsoft and they have a larger market share, so how exactly are the worse than Apple
No they don't
Yes they do
The only time microsoft have broken hardware compatibility is when they genuinely fucked up an update
nope
Okay
I'm sorry, farrongoth, i'm not trying to be difficult here, but what you're saying just isn't true
@Raptorian UEFI was just a failure
With each feature update, they retire hardware support
There are clear and obvious reasons for doing so
How old are we talking?
typically older than 5 years
I pretty sure I could build a PC using 10 year old parts and install windows 10 and it'll be fine for standard use, probably not games but standard use
and i'm pretty sure you'd hit minefields
Socialists:-
Step 1) kill all the billionaires
Step 2) ??????
Step 3) profit!
¬ this has been a Wacka broadcast ¬
nevertheless, the problem is with the feature updates - the CORRECT thing to do would be a more formal compatibility check
and if not compatible, DONT upgrade
whereas
Well the only minefield would be me download 64-bit windows 10 and not 32-bit and I've used a 32-bit CPU
which is essentially a deployment failure, but they don't care because it's a tiny % of obsolete hardware they don't care about anyway
which is why i said it's not unreasonable, just badly executed
I've had that issue, but that's usually specific update which is back to my original point the only time they've done that is when they've genuinely fucked up and they tend to fix it in the next update
it's the feature updates, essentialy the "service packs"
I hate features removed from UI
It used to be really easy for me to get my wireless password starting from system tray but no I now have to go through control panel pick the right options to make sure I get the old network UI
it's windows 2000 in a dress, let's face it
That annoys me, but it's a trade off like everything else I actually like Windows 10
i don't, it annoys the fuck out of me
but i don't have a great deal of choice
I avoided Vista and 8 like the plague I went from XP to 7 to 10
You don't happen to have 10 S do you
I went from XP straight to 10 with a brief experiment with linux for a few months inbetween
no, Pro
Okay
Sound like you just had a bad experience with windows 10. I can relate
In the early 2000 I had bad experiences with nVidia cards I have never touched them again even though it's probably not relevant anymore but I can choose AMD
It's not been a terrible experience with Windows 10, just a disappointing one
And as i've said, I don't have a problem with the choices they made, just the hypocrisy, misinformation, and fibs
And people white-knighting for them rather than just accepting the flaws
Well nVidia was disappointing it was more expensive and not as good as the ATI I changed at 1/5th the price at the time every since I've stuck with ATI/AMD
