and most people in the UK have private too... through work or just private (although I dont think that many take up just private on their own)

and theres people like my mother who had private and just hardly ever used it

@Jes i've advocated in the past for us putting a binding term on doctors, they work for the NHS for 10 or 20 year mandetory before they can leave, and the state swallows the education burden

but we stagger the "pay-back" of the tuition in such a way that after x years a % is paid back, so that people can choose to leave early and own the cost personally

to be fair, i wouldnt expect that in other areas... like if british people got a grant for IT courses...

so for example, say we go with 20 years for free education: after the 10th year each additional year brings your debt 10% down

Say it's 1 mil in education. You leave before year 20 it's 50k a year you owe
