My *sentiment* is entirely with Jefferson in this. But I am a Realist. I cannot consider an isolationist stance (which again is what I would prefer) without recognizing what the side effects of it would be.

Given that the trade system of the world has been dependent on US security overwatch for half a century those effects are pretty large. So my question, my project even, is figuring out how to withdrawal while doing as little damage as possible.
