not really
i can explain in dms
just turn cali into a crater the world would be better for it
So from what I'm reading, the 17th blasted whatever EC like election system the senators used in their own states?
Which I am fond of, by the way (repealing the 17th). Self-government is only retained when you decentralize, the reason the Framer's ensured Senators were appointed by the State legislature of which the seat is to be filled, required to be a district-level representative ascendant to the higher chamber.
Yes, @DrWittMDPhD.
Well rip. Time to strike that one down
Also the 19th while we're at it

It'd be attractive to both left and right.
Feel free to read my screenshot, from my previous conversation, and you'll get an in-depth understanding of it - first link.
I think I already understand it without really looking. I already think the EC is the big sexy, and hate popular vote, so extending this to California where my red district is raped by LA and SD is the same shit
What spawned the conversation was the feeling people have, currently, with distant Senators legislating with no connection to the interests on the district-level.
Yeah, @DrWittMDPhD, the key is understanding it in-depth, so you can explain it to others and sway them to support the position.
Yeah I already understand the EC argument after having to rationalize it and learn why I was so wrong about it Pre-Trump
Unfortunately, we don't have much of a base outside the conservative aisle for rolling back the 17th, because we're not making arguments that also appeal to the left, to everyone.
Well, it functions similar to the EC, in that it provides for a Republican mechanic, but how it impacts the government is vastly different, arguably more important than the EC.
Yes.
Aight I'll bookmark'em. Rn it's bed time
I go extremely in-depth, all the way to how it impacts the Supreme Court nomination process.
Down to how the 17th creates a Senate which overregulates the economy in favor of restricting competition, which harms small-business interests at the district-level.
Awesome, @DrWittMDPhD. Drop me a DM, once you get a chance to look at it. Rest well. <:tiptip:462282246695419934>
