it's possible i suppose but i don't see why it would have been manipulated unless the russian federation did so after the fall of the ussr, and even if russia did that it seems odd considering they didn't get rid of a lot of very unflattering things about the ussr

you're telling me that archival data from the ussr that was never intended for public consumption was manipulated 60 years prior to it becoming public when the people in charge probably weren't banking on the ussr falling and it becoming public?
