2018-07-07 23:04:25 UTC

Short ram intake arrives tomorrow.

2018-07-07 23:04:44 UTC

First kustomization I've been able to do to a car.

2018-07-07 23:12:52 UTC

what car

2018-07-07 23:17:52 UTC

Chevy cruze. 1.4T

2018-07-07 23:18:11 UTC

Yes yes i know, not a performance car by any stretch.

2018-07-07 23:18:32 UTC

But some light mods for a touch more power are worth it in my book.

2018-07-07 23:22:33 UTC

I plan on getting a tune next.

2018-07-07 23:25:17 UTC

I think the Eurofag version is the Vauxhall...Astra, I think.

2018-07-07 23:25:43 UTC

I don't remember exactly.

2018-07-07 23:57:35 UTC

you probably won't actually get any increase from the filter without a pretty heavygoing remap

2018-07-07 23:58:43 UTC

exhaust is usually the best place to start on upping power, especially if you can get away with a decat

2018-07-08 02:18:09 UTC

I would agree if it was the 1.8L.

2018-07-08 02:18:42 UTC

The turbo? I would really be surprised if it didn't benefit from a less restrictive filter. @LOGiK The stock one is _horrendous_

2018-07-08 02:19:21 UTC

Plus, I couldn't do a decat even if I wanted to. State requires yearly emissions inspections, and in any case any real exhaust mods would make the car too loud IMO.

2018-07-08 02:19:43 UTC

More turbo spool I like, but much more than that would drown out the good qualities of the car: being quiet and efficient.

2018-07-08 02:19:59 UTC

Also that's why I plan on getting a remap later.

2018-07-08 02:20:07 UTC

Just...gotta start with the filter.

2018-07-08 02:50:48 UTC

I'm not expecting like a hundred horsepower from this either. Manufacturer says to expect about 7hp and about 12lb/ft. Various forums seem to support that it gives a noticeable power bump, so it's good enough for me.

2018-07-08 08:03:14 UTC

dunno, most modern engines aren't suffocated by induction but at very least run happier with less backpressure. I wouldn't say for sure if good manifolds and decats translate to more hp without a remap as ecus dictate a lot but they certainly lead to better throttle response

'AVE some of that

2018-07-08 18:37:25 UTC

@Broo TulsiGang 2024 πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Those last 10 laps were some quality racing

2018-07-08 20:15:31 UTC

@LOGiK i would argue decat amd mufflers improve sound and fuel economy more than anything else unless coupled with a tune.

2018-07-08 20:15:55 UTC

Still not really an option for me. Particularly not decat

2018-07-08 20:16:20 UTC

can't you just swap a decat pipe out for inspection each year?

2018-07-08 20:17:03 UTC

I run a 3" from turbo right back, I only put the cat on for the yearly MOT

2018-07-08 21:05:16 UTC

Mk2 golf with an Audi TT engine and interior, pretty sweet build

2018-07-08 21:18:22 UTC

That looks clean

2018-07-08 21:18:30 UTC

I love the little angry headlights

2018-07-08 21:56:35 UTC

@LOGiK If I lived at home or at an apartment i would consider it, but i am at a dorm fulltime currently, it is inconvenient, and and it would compromise the quiet of the car too much.

2018-07-08 21:57:06 UTC

I like my cars making noise like any other gearhead, but quiet is, to a degree, why i even bought this car

2018-07-08 21:57:13 UTC

Quiet an convenience.

2018-07-08 22:27:15 UTC

One of my dream builds is a mk1 GTI with a mk4 R32 VR6 in it, with a honkin turbo and a 4wd conversion

2018-07-09 00:29:03 UTC

I mean most performance exhausts have an insert for making them less noisy, I've never used mine because pissing off neighbors is great but it's there if I needed it

2018-07-09 00:29:56 UTC

also I have a personal dislike toward the entire VW group so I can't comment on any affection for VWs, sorry
