> the original nsx was basically designed for driving experience over all else

Source?

2018-07-18 02:46:48 UTC

I mean literally everything written about it, there is plenty of information about it's development and plenty of reviews. Do you not remember any of that from when it came out?

2018-07-18 02:49:09 UTC

I think it would be harder to make a case that the NSX name is supposed to represent the latest in cutting edge technology. It had a fairly low strung V6 and an aluminum body, nothing really crazy other than good chassis and suspension dynamics.

2018-07-18 02:49:50 UTC

Hmmm.... I see your point

2018-07-18 02:52:21 UTC

the real irony is, if honda had just called the new nsx something else, they might have been successful

2018-07-18 02:53:55 UTC

relying on an old brand to carry them with a product that was significantly different was a bad idea especially dragged out

2018-07-18 02:54:57 UTC

[*Flashbacks to Need for Speed 1995*]

2018-07-18 02:56:05 UTC

That was a good game.

2018-07-18 02:56:12 UTC

And pretty much went off the rails from that point on 👌

2018-07-18 02:56:32 UTC

@LOGiK I've been telling another guy in here the same thing about branding

2018-07-18 02:56:38 UTC

nfsu2 was great in a dumb way

2018-07-18 02:56:45 UTC

I think the absolutely horrible marketing really worked against it too, if you tell people you're gonna make this replacement for your most iconic car over the course of a full decade, you build expectations to a point that's almost impossible to live up to.

2018-07-18 02:57:04 UTC

Toyota has done the same with the new Supra name.

2018-07-18 02:57:18 UTC

@LordCaledus lol you listening?

2018-07-18 02:57:41 UTC

bmw has also... what the fuck has bmw done to M actually

2018-07-18 02:58:39 UTC

I just remember the NSX being in the same class as the Toyota Supra and Mazda RX-7

2018-07-18 02:58:59 UTC

pretty much yeah

2018-07-18 02:59:10 UTC

Supra was a fun car.

2018-07-18 02:59:31 UTC

though I feel like the rx7 shouldn't be classed with anything else

2018-07-18 02:59:32 UTC

M is meaningless now, there are SUVs that have an M badge from the factory and aren't even an M car.

2018-07-18 02:59:56 UTC

also m was originally like.. light and fast

2018-07-18 03:00:03 UTC

then the m8 gte

2018-07-18 03:00:42 UTC

I'm sure you could mount a 203mm tank cannon to the m8 gte

2018-07-18 03:01:17 UTC

Well the Supra was also equivalent to a Corvette or 911 of the time, those cars were all in the either side of 300 or so horsepower range at that time.

2018-07-18 03:03:31 UTC

The M8 GTE is also a joke because it's been racing since the start of the current IMSA and WEC seasons even though there is no M8 road car on sale.

2018-07-18 03:05:02 UTC

The production version of the regular 8 series wasn't even shown until like 6 months after the M8 GTE had been racing, and you can't buy that yet, let alone an actual M8.

2018-07-18 03:05:03 UTC

sounds like a tesla model 3 at 35k

2018-07-18 03:06:24 UTC

Everything else in WEC GTE Pro represents a road car that has actually been sold to customers besides the BMW.

2018-07-18 03:07:39 UTC

well I bet most people won't buy the m8

2018-07-18 03:08:01 UTC

few people have a dockyard or shipping port to park in

2018-07-18 03:08:18 UTC

Haha

2018-07-18 03:14:25 UTC

I thought you were gonna say they'll buy the 835i X-Drive M badged non-M model instead.

2018-07-18 03:32:22 UTC

@Fitzydog i was driving

2018-07-18 03:32:33 UTC

Also i was tagged because...?

2018-07-18 03:33:10 UTC

Because badge engineering is a bad business move

2018-07-18 03:33:13 UTC

Also yeah, bmw has kinda fucked up with watering down the M badge

2018-07-18 03:33:32 UTC

Uh...at what point was i arguing for that?

2018-07-18 03:33:56 UTC

If you mean the convo yesterday, i was arguinf for getting away from badge engineering

2018-07-18 03:33:59 UTC

I'm joking, pipe down lol

2018-07-18 03:34:12 UTC

?
