Depends I guess. People feel WWII was more relevant to themselves as it was most recent. Which makes a sort of sense.
Plus it is often seen as the only modern example of a literal war between what most see as good vs evil.
And evil vs evil if we look at the eastern front :^)

Well yeah WWI shouldn't have happened and was literally everybody's fault. And WWII was bound to happen. But was more than people fighting each other. Ideology and morality, ethics, were being tested.
You also have to remember what started each. If WW1 was more popular than people would have to but heads with it every time globalism tries to grow.
