Nah but gaelic is much closer to the root linguistically then latin to French or another Romance language.
English has only partly Latin words, mostly it is a Germanic language.
Some French words were adopted (during Norman occupation), which yes, are Romance words. But the root is Germanic/anglo saxon

2018-07-06 12:17:03 UTC

I would not call Gaelic a latin langauge

2018-07-06 12:17:24 UTC

It's closer to a celtic language

2018-07-06 12:17:38 UTC

I've had a couple

2018-07-06 12:20:57 UTC

It is worth noting the Norman occupation also created a royal family that created a situation where the royalty was speaking a different language (French) than the peasants, which the peasants adapted French words

I'd leave it if I were you

2018-07-06 12:27:38 UTC

(I spelt gaelic wrong)

2018-07-06 12:27:41 UTC

It's unwinnable

focus your energy on something else

2018-07-06 12:28:49 UTC

Make Australia Great Again?

2018-07-06 12:37:37 UTC

It was a discussion topic I had once

2018-07-06 12:37:49 UTC

Not really a consistent topic

2018-07-06 12:38:11 UTC

is this a touchy subject for Broo?

2018-07-06 12:38:13 UTC

whining implies it carried over more than once

2018-07-06 12:38:22 UTC

yeah that's the reaction I had from the scots

2018-07-06 12:38:47 UTC

I suspect they don't like the link to the Irish

2018-07-06 12:39:28 UTC

My problem is that they got anal over something that's mostly true

2018-07-06 12:39:46 UTC

If you look it up it's really obvious it's true

Scots are closer to the Irish than the English

but don't dwell on it

it's water under the bridge

You can say the Cornish are closer too

2018-07-06 12:51:37 UTC

yea, same as the Welsh to a lesser extent. Many of the Scots have Nordic ancestry and the Cornish a lot of Norman

2018-07-06 12:51:53 UTC

Particularly long the west coast

2018-07-06 12:52:06 UTC

for the scots I mean

I realized something today. I'm not so much concerned for what the radical left will do in the near future. Sure, they might throw drinks in some people's faces, maybe even hurt a couple fellas if they can get a few cheap shots in. But hey these things aren't too bad, it's just bullying and if we can't put up with that and still be thankful for what the white house is accomplishing for our country, then we're being snowflakes. What concerns me is if or when the left regains majority political power again. This is because I don't think they're just going to calm down and everything will "go back to normal". It doesn't escape my imagination that at such a time we may end up seeing some of the most radical polices ever put forth in the United States. My hope is that dems and leftists will simply have to keep losing long enough that they realize they have to reel it in and change their approach because the general populace simply isn't willing to support it.

Make the Left Great Again.... before it's too late! I also wonder if people thought much the same thing about the right while Obama was president πŸ€”

2018-07-06 14:44:14 UTC

I disagree.

2018-07-06 14:44:17 UTC

Not really. The right is more spectrum than the left. The democrat party is a shadow of what they were. Without reform I honestly dont see them gaining power again

2018-07-06 14:44:34 UTC

The DNC is likely to split off.
