It shouldn't have to

2018-08-03 22:05:52 UTC

would the governnment be crowding out any other company from the markets it enters

2018-08-03 22:06:03 UTC

if its funded through taxation?

2018-08-03 22:06:06 UTC

What market is it entering?

2018-08-03 22:06:16 UTC

lets say schools for example

2018-08-03 22:06:30 UTC

Why is it controlling the schools?

2018-08-03 22:06:39 UTC

That's not its job

2018-08-03 22:07:05 UTC

According to the nations constitution its allowed to operate publically funded schools

2018-08-03 22:07:29 UTC

That's your own problem, bud. We're talking about the hypothetical here

2018-08-03 22:08:00 UTC

No im posing the argument on why the government should not enter markets

2018-08-03 22:08:04 UTC

at all

2018-08-03 22:08:16 UTC

because it crowds out alternatives

2018-08-03 22:08:19 UTC

Yeah, I agree

2018-08-03 22:08:38 UTC

Common defense, and a lawbook should not be marketable though

2018-08-03 22:09:08 UTC

So ur a minarchist with the exceptions of Laws and Borders?

2018-08-03 22:09:29 UTC

That *is* a minarchist. The necessary minimum.

2018-08-03 22:09:49 UTC

Laws and borders are the only legitimate domain of the state

2018-08-03 22:10:22 UTC

Would your "laws" include an executie, legislativa and judiciary branch?

2018-08-03 22:10:53 UTC

That's all unnecessary overhead. What's the point of it?

Just print a lawbook.

2018-08-03 22:11:16 UTC

would they need enforcement though (Executive)

2018-08-03 22:12:03 UTC

People use private arbitration all the time, and when are you ever dealing with a federal entity in law?

2018-08-03 22:12:28 UTC

ICE? an example off the top of my head of america

2018-08-03 22:12:43 UTC

IDRK im not american

2018-08-03 22:12:44 UTC

Border patrol?

2018-08-03 22:12:56 UTC

Yes i guess so

2018-08-03 22:13:40 UTC

So would you agree with the Saga period icelandic model of libertarianism where laws were decided by the state but they would needed to be enforced privately?

2018-08-03 22:14:06 UTC

idk what that is, but sure. Common law, and common defense.

2018-08-03 22:14:26 UTC

so a legislative branch only and border patrol?

2018-08-03 22:14:45 UTC

Why even have a branch? Seriously?

2018-08-03 22:14:55 UTC

just a placeholder

2018-08-03 22:15:28 UTC

Why would you want a state to have a monopoly over these services?

2018-08-03 22:16:45 UTC

Because then someone else could arbitrarily institute strange laws where they see fit, or hold parties accountable more stringently than others.

It'd turn into a codified 'one law for you, one for me'

2018-08-03 22:17:05 UTC

People would have to deal with multiple law codes for different circumstances

2018-08-03 22:17:33 UTC

I can understand that, as well as border patrol

2018-08-03 22:17:42 UTC

How would they be funded?

2018-08-03 22:18:26 UTC

It's like asking "Why should a culture have a monopoly on language?"

What's to fund? It's a document. Who funds the constitution?

2018-08-03 22:19:04 UTC

No i meant border patrol, also would the law makers not want salaries?

2018-08-03 22:21:00 UTC

There's never a need to create new laws. It's just a bureaucratic cesspit of self-interest. Also, local ordinances are still a thing.

Border patrol is a completely voluntary force. The monopoly on force at the border is held in-common.

2018-08-03 22:22:33 UTC

Ok agreed

2018-08-03 22:22:36 UTC

good talk

2018-08-03 22:22:43 UTC
