This is not a bad thing to stand against, but what i would ask. How about tribal identities which are repressed by nations? Would you have stood against Nationalism when nations were formed from groups which had differing views?

It is something which happens and one must consider. Small groups and nations will always be crushed under the heel if they do not work with the greater wholes. If EU will not pan out or is rejected what is left? Waning star of the US or Russia.
If Finland had not keeled and heeled on the right moment in the right way Finland would not have had peace terms it had and it would have been crushed.

Not really, US is waning empire. I think EU is trying to make United States of Europe.

I do not want that, but it is an strong thing which can happen. What small nations WANT matters less than nothing really. If Germany and France will push for slow gradual integration it is something which is really hard to stop, and doing so might leave those said nations to the spheres of influence of less good actors.
