But a builder doesn't go to university/college

2018-11-09 16:11:55 UTC

(Sorry Aussie here, education system is different here)

2018-11-09 16:11:57 UTC

It's the phenomenon that Bret Weinstein calls "academic laundering"

2018-11-09 16:12:48 UTC

Or the empower has no clothes πŸ˜›

2018-11-09 16:15:51 UTC

Builder? You mean someone who works in construction?

2018-11-09 16:16:15 UTC

Or do you mean a civil engineer?

2018-11-09 16:16:30 UTC

1st one

2018-11-09 16:16:30 UTC

architect, carpenter, mason, welder

2018-11-09 16:16:35 UTC

Person A starts with a conclusion, and fits the results of their 'study' to support it, then publishes the paper in a journal.

Person B does the same thing, but then cites Person A as a supporting "study" lending credence to their conclusion.

Now you have a "legitimate" study being passed around as fact.

Construction people in Aus are super well paid as well

2018-11-09 16:17:37 UTC

2018-11-09 16:18:02 UTC

How well paid?

2018-11-09 16:18:07 UTC

Middle class?

2018-11-09 16:18:19 UTC

Upper middle at least

2018-11-09 16:18:24 UTC

6 figures in the states if you're a unionized Master plumber

2018-11-09 16:18:25 UTC

2018-11-09 16:18:44 UTC

The trades pay pretty well here

2018-11-09 16:19:14 UTC

You're getting at least middle class pay

2018-11-09 16:19:31 UTC

Yep

2018-11-09 16:19:53 UTC

It's good (usually ) honest work

2018-11-09 16:24:54 UTC

"We got the Democrats on X Y Z Crime this time!" is equivalent to "We got Drumpf this time!"

2018-11-09 19:15:05 UTC

Democrats don't pay for crime, this is a law of nature

2018-11-09 19:15:14 UTC

2018-11-09 19:37:13 UTC

Democratic Senate seats up in 2018: 26

GOP Senate seats up in 2018: 6

I feel like this fact should be brought up during any analysis of how the Senate played out because it's kind of important
I mean, this is relevant to so many hot takes. "BUT THE DEMOCRATS WON THE POPULAR VOTE HOW DID THEY LOSE SENATE SEATS"

Winning more votes in the Senate but losing seats is exactly what you'd expect when defending 4 times more seats than your opponent
I guess technically the GOP was 9 seats because of retirements, but that still means the Democrats were defending 3 times as many seats as the Republicans. It was an extremely rough Senate map and I don't think messaging caused the losses

2018-11-09 20:42:04 UTC

the "won the popular vote" line they are touting is utter tard

2018-11-09 20:42:53 UTC

the number they are harping on is the total numer of voted the dems got NATIONALY
