This is what our global overlords want for everyone
All cities are like that
Rent control really fucks shit up.
Bubble will pop sooner or later
oh God, do we have to argue about supply and demand curves?
Hopefully this time people will realize keeping their heads down is useless
As long as people want to live there it wont
Wait for the grid to be fried
Iirc nyc has a huge union issue. Even in a natural disaster they turn away workers from even other unions.
Isn't that what Syndicalism is?
I remember a story about the massive blozzard and workers from north carolina were unioned electricians and plumbers were turned away from helping.
Sounds like an insurance being for profit problem
I doubt you know how insurance even works
okay I'm back
what'd I miss
Yea most people have no clue how insurance actually works
Or the fact most health insurance companies are non profit or not for profit companies.
Insurance is probably the greatest invention of the past 150 years
Which means even without the 501c status they arnt able to make more than 3% profit.
Anything with the name 'Mutual' in it is operated in that regard
Imagine a health insurance company that was operated as a non profit by a religious organization that as part of your plan you had to volunteer at the hospital once a month or something like that
Talk about cheap healthcare lol
All the blue cross blue shield companies have to agree to non profit or not for profit
To be part of the association and reap the benefits
I actually feel the not for profit are better companies. As they dont dodge the taxes.
Well not fully. They get some tax benefit o lf course
But they dont larp as a charity
Thing is, without all these regulations, some of these agencies COULD actually operate as charities as well providing healthcare to those who can't afford it
Insurance isnt healthcare.
But i get your point
The one i worked for donated their overage of profit to charity healthcare orgs
Why can't they be both? Which is my point.
Did you know that it's federal law that you can't have too many hospitals in one city based upon your population size?
Because thats the insurance model. Insurance is a just in case to help pay, not meant for your everyday. Look aat car insurance. It doesnt provide repairs it helps in the unfortunate but also doesnt pay for routine maint.
Yea that is a stupid law
But one that doesnt matter as most hospitals in most cities are owned by the same group.
Probably because of that regulation
I assume the gov was acting like hospitals and schools are similar in that regard
There are many factors to that. Creation of the fda, america increasing its r&d rates, various insurance regulations, ect.
Speaking of the FDA, gotta love their nanny state mindset with the ban on flavors of ecig, menthol cigs and all flavored cigars
