My fundamental belief is just that taxpayer dollars should always go towards national interests. Charity and humanitarian aid should come from donations. This keeps the government much more responsible with its use of funds.

Humanitarian causes sound nice, but they're prone to lots of corruptions.

Yeah, sure I agree with that. Enforce laws, handle emergencies, fight crime and violence, punish contract violations etc, but the US should not do those things, Venezuelans should.

Think of it this way. Would you rather the Army handing out MREs or the Clinton Foundation handing out 'aid' to the government?

Of course if a Venezuelan and American company have a legal dispute then the US government has a role in that, and we should enforce the fairness of both Venezuelan companies as well as our own.

Or rather, both countries should seek to ensure that all parties are honoring the laws of each country.
