If true about Patreon that's just sad. The market spoke and there is little you can do to stop people from leaving your platform...except maybe stop sucking.
they are desperate, as they have a 100 million dollars in investments that they need to pay back. and they have nothing to show to the investors that they are able to repay them.
they did take 50-60 millions in investments and did hire over 300 people last year and the end users have not gained anything positive from it so, no wonder that peole leave when they are feeling threatened by them and look for other platforms that are more neutral in there looks on things
The sad thing is there are ton of good creators that are gonna get shafted when they fold. I follow several that use patreon heavily to subsidize the work they do outside of their YouTube channels etc. Yes they can move to the alternatives but it will disrupt their income stream and cost them money as some people will inevitably just be too lazy to set it back up.
Many of them do. However it could be argued that given the time effort and quality some of these content providers produce they have a job. They're selling us their content. Which was working well until Patreon decided to act like retards. The market will correct its just another example of why we can't have nice things.
if you are basing your hole income on donation alone from just one site, it a risk they have to take all on their own, as people have been saying for years now to diversify your income if you are a creator
@Nordhand The more experienced do. Its just smart for anyone really. Still I hate to see genuine hardworking people get the short end because of a handful of idiots. As I say its why we can't have nice things.
