> @M4Gunner : "if i watch carls video will it ruin the book for me?"
He doesn't really dig into plot points of the book in a way that spoils much, but he does have to address events in comparison to the first and (partially) fifth films
But the chapters where Johnny is learning about the subject known as "History and Moral Philosophy" are the two best parts of the book, where Heinlein really directs his thoughts at the reader
@Fitzydog : Read her "Persona"
@Legiondude I can't it's too tiny
*Why are there so many Arabs working at airports!?!?*
that photo is fucking terrifying @Jab
Sargon encouraged me to buy the book. Not because of the politics but because sargons summary and half dive into the plot lead me to believe it's far less dry and meandering as I was led to believe.
what, 12 rules?
No. Starship troopers
I was always told the book was boring
I wanna at least watch the movie (somehow I've missed it) before I watch sargon's video
I kept putting it off under the assumption the video was never coming
Eh I don't think person is right I lack the philosophical training to fully elaborate why but what he says generally doesn't line up with my experience in life.
I wanna get my own opinion
It was pretty good.
The video that is
That and he also a weird type of religious.
Like, philosophically religious instead of just "im a Christian"?
Yes
Its not that wierd its just most people are bad at elaborating on it. In my experience alot of converts think like Peterson to some extent about religion.
My grandparents for example when I started asking them about it.
Okay May be no then, I differ on what truth is. He has a religious outlook on what truth can be philosophically speaking.
Ah. Idk much about that. Havnt watched a peterson lecture in about half a year.
I seen every single lecture and any video he's bothered to record. 12 Rules for life will work but I don't think they will work for people who are not already trying to implement some form of them.Before they even read his book it only helps those people put them in order.
Peterson is a classic Christian Deist from the sound of it
He's definitely a deist but he doesn't think God is an entity in and of itself
Right, that's deism
Use it more as a metaphor for a guiding purpose
Collective unconcious more like
Boi you just say what I say only smarter! I will fite you
lol
basically, there's shit engrained into our moral compasses as humans that is as standard as having 5 fingers
Some people call that 'god'
On that basis I would absolutely have to disagree people's moral compasses are different between people
