@Angus @meratrix I highly doubt evolution can work that way, it just majes no sense. Evolution just means those who spread their genes more... well, gonna have their genes spread which means their genes will be more common, and so over time everyone evolves to have those genes that contribute to the goal of spreading your genes. This mechanism isn't smart enough to have population conntrol in it.
I did ear some arguments for why it could actually be an evaluationary benefit, but I think it would make more sense if it was more like an evolutionary mistake

surely homosexuality didn't actually come from evolution, there'd be no gates since they literally do not breed enough

I'm not saying it's a natural function of genetics. I'm saying it doesn't really matter because regardless it still helps with overpopulation, among other things that help with that.

so it must be something that's always been around or it's been around for a long time

I mean, the Greeks we're pretty into it, so it's at-least that old.
