This argument is always lolworthy because they literally think the second amendment essentially says "y'all can have muskets" and completely forget the whole point of 2A is to meet or exceed the might of the federal government to keep them under our thumb and discourage tyranny
From day one, our common rifles exceeded the capabilities of the standard musket used by the British troops
Not to mention the enormous effective fire advantage that shotguns gave you
That regular armies refused to adopt but which is actually witheringly effective in that kind of warfare
