probably

2019-02-07 04:29:10 UTC

no like, it's confirmed. It is a troll account.

2019-02-07 04:29:10 UTC

but assuming someone actually believed what they were saying

2019-02-07 04:29:16 UTC

sure

2019-02-07 04:29:31 UTC

Like, the troll works because there's people that believe what she is saying

2019-02-07 04:29:37 UTC

true

2019-02-07 04:29:46 UTC

so for people who actually posses that mindset, which is a real mindset that exists

2019-02-07 04:29:59 UTC

that's what I am referring to

2019-02-07 04:31:04 UTC

do you think people who possess that mindset, do they have an individual control over their actions, or do their actions control them

2019-02-07 04:31:25 UTC

Their actions control them

2019-02-07 04:31:35 UTC

Titania Mcgrath is hilarious

2019-02-07 04:31:49 UTC

They have been societally programmed to respond in such a manner

2019-02-07 04:32:23 UTC

^

2019-02-07 04:34:09 UTC

and for those that have gone off the deep end with the brainwashing, do you think that, let's say they were given all the attention and care needed to deprogram them, do you think they could ever develop their own ability to think for themselves

2019-02-07 04:34:18 UTC

or are they just forever fucked at this point

2019-02-07 04:34:53 UTC

I think we're all fucked

2019-02-07 04:35:26 UTC

Given enough time they could be rewritten, but time is a luxury that we can ill afford

2019-02-07 04:36:19 UTC

Yes but even if they could be rewritten, can you rewrite someone to think for themselves, especially if they are, let's say, in their 30s-40s years of age

2019-02-07 04:36:26 UTC

I think some could but most couldn't

2019-02-07 04:36:39 UTC

like that feminist woman that Sargon interviewed the other day

2019-02-07 04:36:57 UTC

good luck reprogramming THAT

2019-02-07 04:37:13 UTC
2019-02-07 04:37:38 UTC

@KawaiiSamurai for that to happen, you would need to destroy their old persona and rebuild it from the ground up

2019-02-07 04:38:07 UTC

you would have to remove them from their existing surroundings

2019-02-07 04:38:18 UTC

^

2019-02-07 04:38:29 UTC

or bring new surroundings to them

2019-02-07 04:39:06 UTC

i.e. if/when their area gets hit by an economic depression

2019-02-07 04:40:03 UTC

@galesteppes the question I think about, what role does our development through childhood and adolescence play in constructing our individuality, and if that development is poisoned, can you ever really recover from that at a later age once brain development has fully matured

2019-02-07 04:40:12 UTC

also they need to be made to see just how naive it is to put faith in any kind of federal body for anything more than border protection, military and maybe a couple other things

2019-02-07 04:40:27 UTC

they need to have a "wow these people are really corrupt" moment

2019-02-07 04:40:45 UTC

@KawaiiSamurai I guess this is where we wait for implanting false memories

2019-02-07 04:41:00 UTC

I'd put protection of inter-state markets in that category as well as anti-trust

2019-02-07 04:41:04 UTC

oh shit blade runner 2049 here we come

2019-02-07 04:44:15 UTC

I feel you could argue that Mythology was an effective tool for instilling values through a more ancient use of neuro linguistic programming

2019-02-07 04:45:16 UTC

I would argue that actually

2019-02-07 04:45:37 UTC

Sorry, I was arguing with a Bloomer on JBPOD

2019-02-07 04:45:45 UTC

bloomer?

2019-02-07 04:46:00 UTC

The modern ethos seems to be more akin to a religion with all the radical zealotry

2019-02-07 04:46:32 UTC

so what's the difference, really, between teaching your kid allegorical stories as if they are true, versus implanting false memories through some blade-runner future replicant

2019-02-07 04:47:07 UTC

I guess the difference being the mythos is more easily abstracted

2019-02-07 04:47:45 UTC

I would say the stories are better than the false memories on the long-term, or more likely to survive the challenging stage of adolescence, versus false memories, but who knows
