When you get paid, the state gets a cut. That's annoying but it's understandable. But after that, you Also pay a tax every time you buy something (right now it's 23% over the price of the object). And on top of that, every layer in the production had to pay the same tax: the retailer paid 22% in taxes from the manufacturer, the manufacturer over the raw resources etc

And they all get paid by the consumer at the end

vat isn't as much of a problem as some of the other similar taxes, at least it doesn't apply cumulatively
