2019-12-04 21:09:27 UTC

mfw the entire structure of the story is based on a cuckolded king who murders his wife for sleeping with a negroid slave, then has virgins brought to him to marry each night, consummates that same night, then has them killed in the morning. mfw

medieval arabs seem p based

one of the first morals of their most classic piece of oration/literature is essentially: dont trust any woman, they all cheat on their husbands. kill them if they do, then remarry and make sure she doesnt do it again, by all means necessary.

2019-12-04 21:10:48 UTC

also the first "night" is about a woman that asks her husband too much and has to be beaten by him until she basically shuts the fuck up lmao

i went to find an audio version on yt and listened to a lecture about how Arabian Nights is not authentic, theres an early syrian manuscript that resembles a small part of it. dude was saying Europeans pretty much made it up.

*Modernity & Cultural Decline: A Biobehavioral Perspective*

2019-12-08 04:47:41 UTC

-*This book argues that despite the many real advantages that industrial modernity has yielded—including large gains in wealth, longevity, and (possibly) happiness—it has occurred together with the appearance of a variety of serious problems. Chief among these are probable losses in subjective existential purpose and increases in psychopathology. A highly original theory of the ultimate basis of these trends is advanced, which unites prior work in psychometrics and evolutionary science. This theory builds on the social epistasis amplification model to argue that genetic and epigenetic changes in modernizing and modernized populations, stemming from shifts in selective pressures related to industrialization, have lowered human fitness and wellness. *-

@auamoti well there are a LOT of differing translations. but the authentic ones are based on the original orations told fireside at the travelling camps. so yes some of it is europeans fantasizing. but most of it is confirmed by scholars, at least the richard burton version is. there are a few other authentic ones but his is verified by a number of egyptian assyrian and persian scholars

Former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon says he is "fascinated" by former Italian dictator Benito Mussolini.
In an interview published Friday in the British magazine The Spectator, Bannon praised the fascist strongman's "virility" and "fashion sense," calling him a "guy's guy."
"He was clearly loved by women. He was a guy’s guy. He has all that virility," Bannon said. "He also had amazing fashion sense, right, that whole thing with the uniforms. I’m fascinated by Mussolini."
Bannon, who is touring Europe, has faced accusations in the U.S. of promoting racist and fascist politics, though he has identified himself as a populist. He told The Spectator that "fascism" was a term used to smear populism.
He also insisted that the two — populism and fascism — "are not even related."
