Even though they plan to make movies about the Old Republic they can't bring themselves to canonise any material from the games or use Dromund Kaas when it's literally the same planet as Exogol.
Well, they canonised Reven and Naga Sadow and since it's one of the division names for the new cranberry flavoured stormtroopers.
But they have all this material to work with and just half-heartedly name drop some fan favorite character and nerds go crazy as if it was even JJ's intention and not the made up by an intern.
Maybe Exogol is Dromund Kaas renamed? Like how Korriban is now Morriband?
