Hey Nerthulas

2019-11-22 11:42:59 UTC

I can learn the formulas etc but I can't do it myself

2019-11-22 11:43:04 UTC

How are you doing today?

2019-11-22 11:43:25 UTC

I listen, and I don't grasp it, but if I ask for help I frustrate my teacher and the whole class. Either way, I fall behind and I'm punished.

2019-11-22 11:43:44 UTC

i'm pretty decent today

Except most of the kids who didn't pass GCSE maths left school and got stable jobs. It's a joke that they keep you behind to study this crap.

@Weaboo Kempeitai I did terribly at GCSE maths and I thought it would hold me back but it really didn't

2019-11-22 11:44:29 UTC

he'll be back

2019-11-22 11:44:32 UTC

I passed my functional skills exam, which is below a GCSE. It demonstrates that you're functional, basically. I'm not sure if I'm still obligated to do my GCSE.

2019-11-22 11:44:34 UTC

Ok

2019-11-22 11:45:21 UTC

@Downfall Vision I legit don't know if I'm obligated to be here or not. I keep hearing conflicting information.

2019-11-22 11:45:56 UTC

retook the personality test

2019-11-22 11:46:00 UTC

Some say I'm meant to be here until 18, others say I have to pass my GCSE's and that's all I need to do.

2019-11-22 11:46:05 UTC

@Weaboo Kempeitai the problem with GCSE maths is that they only test you on mental arithmetic so it doesn't matter how well you understand the principles, if you can't figure it all out in your head you're punished. Just invest the time in understanding maths and you'll be fine. You have access to a calculator 100% of the time

You have to be in education until you're 18 but you can do an apprenticeship to satisfy that requirement

2019-11-22 11:46:44 UTC

so you don't have to be in school until you're 18

2019-11-22 11:46:55 UTC

@Downfall Vision No, in some exams you don't. Plus, I just don't have the patience to repeat this stuff on end. I don't think it's valuable to me. Most adults forget it.

2019-11-22 11:47:19 UTC

Britain has awful numeracy rates, and the government, being as old fashioned as they are, beleive this is a problem. It dosen't seem to be.

don't worry about your GCSE maths

2019-11-22 11:47:50 UTC

invest the time in understanding the principles and do your best

2019-11-22 11:47:55 UTC

My life is one big shit test

2019-11-22 11:48:12 UTC

you will be just as successful in life with a grade E as you will with an A* in maths

2019-11-22 11:48:16 UTC

Who cares if most adults have the maths ability of primary school students when the people who actually need it understand it? But then they give you the "we need to give you as many opportunities as possible" as if you can get a job in a scientific field with a good GCSE grade

2019-11-22 11:48:17 UTC

it's a meaningless qualification
