@Weaboo Kempeitai the problem with GCSE maths is that they only test you on mental arithmetic so it doesn't matter how well you understand the principles, if you can't figure it all out in your head you're punished. Just invest the time in understanding maths and you'll be fine. You have access to a calculator 100% of the time

You have to be in education until you're 18 but you can do an apprenticeship to satisfy that requirement

so you don't have to be in school until you're 18

@Downfall Vision No, in some exams you don't. Plus, I just don't have the patience to repeat this stuff on end. I don't think it's valuable to me. Most adults forget it.

Britain has awful numeracy rates, and the government, being as old fashioned as they are, beleive this is a problem. It dosen't seem to be.

you will be just as successful in life with a grade E as you will with an A* in maths

Who cares if most adults have the maths ability of primary school students when the people who actually need it understand it? But then they give you the "we need to give you as many opportunities as possible" as if you can get a job in a scientific field with a good GCSE grade

They've changed the grading system, it's 1-9 now

9 is equivalent to A*, I think.

Didn't study for either so I'm kind of proud.

oh okay that's good then

I got all Cs except one E in Maths

and I'm doing just fine

i got all c, B in ordinary math which is just garbage, A in english and B in biology

my teachers were always mad at me when I didn't get above C and it started to piss me off as I got older
