They've done experiments with no physical interaction that proves the observer plays a role, but they don't tell ppl cuz it would upset the atheist applecard

lol no

Quantum Eraser again?

2019-12-12 05:28:30 UTC

It's an elimination?

2019-12-12 05:28:36 UTC

It is technically a measurement interaction that that brings the wave into the particle?

2019-12-12 05:28:53 UTC

like chalk being in the presence of the beam?

quantum eraser is where you observe the path in the double slit experiment, but you later on precisely destroy that information in a quantum way so it cannot leak back into the environment

2019-12-12 05:29:20 UTC

if you do that, you recover the interference pattern as if you had never observed it

2019-12-12 05:29:28 UTC

Conscious knowledge of the system is the key not a physical measurement per se

2019-12-12 05:29:36 UTC

@fuguer undo

>we have convo about physics
>dashi posting brown women
I am never unblocking dashi again. can we ban this guy already?

2019-12-12 05:29:48 UTC

That makes me think of Penrose's "amnesia" theory

The convo needs some scenery

2019-12-12 05:30:22 UTC

so, its not that observing causes collapse, its that if your current state has a memory of interacting with a quantum system, you cant interact with a superposition of it that would contradict that previous measurement

2019-12-12 05:30:27 UTC

he's harmless

2019-12-12 05:30:29 UTC

unless you delete all traces of the measurement

I need to read this for myself.

2019-12-12 05:30:42 UTC

Hm

2019-12-12 05:30:58 UTC

This is hard to believe. I think I no longer can believe realism.

Yes Rhythm this is why I said QM is upstream of philosophy for me

2019-12-12 05:31:23 UTC

@fuguer so could you say the idea of infinite dimensions is the same as the idea of infinite memory patterns?

2019-12-12 05:31:33 UTC

I am going to take it step by step of the text book I got for now, Fuguer. Thanks though, but I am going to take it slowly.

2019-12-12 05:31:35 UTC

retrieval in qm is pretty interesante

Li Chengfeng from the quantum information laboratory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences developed a solid-state quantum memory and demonstrated the photon computing function using time and frequency.

Diamond has very high Raman gain in optical phonon mode of 40 THz and has a wide transient window in a visible and near-infrared band, which makes it suitable for being an optical memory with a very wide band. After the Raman storage interaction, the optical phonon decays into a pair of photons through the channel, and the decay lifetime is 3.5 ps, which makes the diamond memory unsuitable for communication protocol. **problem is, it only lasts 10 seconds**

2019-12-12 05:33:33 UTC

in a way, our perception of reality and predictions of the future is intimately tied to the memory we have

2019-12-12 05:33:40 UTC

```A. If one of the paths is lengthened then
the interference can be altered to ensure that all
photons strike detector B.```
2019-12-12 05:33:40 UTC
Why is this?
2019-12-12 05:34:16 UTC
```On that
site, the basic interferometer is shown as in figure 1
and it is explained that interference between the
two paths ensures that the photon always strikes
detector A. ```

what gives rise to classical realism is the fact that quantum information leaks and smears out into the environment in a redundant way that's hard to eradicate. this gives rise to the classical consistency and behavior our intuition expects
